Adding e-mail (Hotmail) account in Connected Drive
Trying to add e-mail account in the web page for connected drive.
I can see my car and all the services I have but can’t seem to get the “add e-mail” to work Here is the relevant bit of the web page Anyone with any experience of what you put in each box? I’m putting my hotmail e-mail address in as. ******@live.co.uk For BMW ID. I’ve used the e-mail account for connected drive. Password. I’ve used the password for the ******@live.co.uk On pressing save I then get an error message. Any help appreciated

I have got O365 working but you have to do it from the car. It works ok, slightly disappointed you don't get a proper Skype client, it just dials you in using the phone number in the message so you end up as a guest...

I know your pain exactly. Really I do.
Sure you can now use Office365 but you need a subscription. You can set up normal SMTP email in this way. I have an outlook.com address and I tried dozens of ways. In the end an inbox of outlook.office365.com and an outbox of smtp.office365.com and a port of 587 had it working. Believe me I tried every way under the sun to get it working. I am afraid the Genius at my local dealer was no use at all. Not sure if that helps but I feel your pain! |

Thanks Woody32...
Did you put the info in via the car or web? I’d like to give it a try if you can give me more info on where/how you did this.

I got the e-mail into the web connected drive.. Thanks for the settings. Unfortunately I can’t get it to show in the car. I’ve never logged into office 365 although it is enabled in connected drive ( for a trial period).
What do I need to do in the car regarding office365?

You should be able to get normal SMTP mail WITHOUT Office 365. It can be set up in the system. If you have no error message I go to I think communications and email should be there.
The new Office 365 should be on the menu also and you then follow the instructions. I think you get a 3 month teaser but you MUST have a 365 account which includes Exchange. |

Thanks Woody320.
I’ll look in the com’s menu.... Update.... Looked but it still wants me to log into my 365 account.... I don’t have one. Looks like I’m stuck....

Cranseter1983.
As you have probably read I’m no expert at this but my understanding is that you need a subscription thru BMW Connected drive and a “365 account” .... I have a free trial with the BMW connected drive but do not have a “365”. So looks like I’m stymied.

Out of interest are you using a guest profile in the car?
My Connected Drive app did next to nothing until I created my own profile. I gave it a try with my gmail address, the default imap and smtp channels were wrong, so I used the custom setup. This got me a bit closer but still got an error message. Maybe someone with a bit more knowledge in these areas may have more success. Last edited by KMoore; 10-09-2019 at 03:02 PM.. |

Have you also set up an O365 account separately from the Website Connected Drive? If so, how does it "present" multiple email accounts?
I've got the Car-based O365 account working fine (I've got an O365 account from when I was contracting but will set up my work one in a few weeks when we migrate from on-premise Exchange). I couldn't get the Connected Drive Website to work with any of my (various) email accounts. Must try harder... ;-) |
