Cleaning OEM BMW Floor Mats?

Hey guys.

Yesterday my girlfriend stepped in a puddle of gasoline that my buddy spilled.

It was raining, so it stuck on her shoe.

She got into my 335 and the floor mat smells of gasoline.

I sprayed it with some Ozium and got most of the smell out.

Is there any way to "clean" the floor mats?

I was thinking of throwing them in the washing machine, but i feel like it will destroy them as they are basically carpet.

Does anybody have any suggestions?

Yes.

Coin wash > soap spray > rinse spray > squeegee off any carpeted area with an ice scraper > leave to dry > done

My 2008 had the carpet OEM floor mats for a while until I tried cleaning them with a high pressure sprayer and soap. The darn rubber backing started coming off afterwards with pieces littering the floorboards. It might have been simply due to age for that to happen. I ended up replacing them with the weathertech mats. Much easier to keep the whole car clean now, and the new mats fit and are easy to clean. Good luck!

"Resolve" Carpet Cleaner. Yes, the OEM floor Mats are "Carpet", so why use something OTHER than a good carpet cleaner. I presume you are talking about the Mats OVER the Carpet & NOT the Carpet itself, but Resolve works well on either.

Spray it on, let it soak in for 30 to 60 seconds; brush with stiff bristle brush, in ALL directions; rub with clean towel; repeat if necessary (usually NOT); vacuum to assist drying, and vacuum again a few hours later.

Works on MOST stains, such as coffee or other spilled beverages; even grease. Works best if you don't wait MONTHS before using it.

This is a good advice. You could even use an APC like simple green cut 4:1 or so with water. I use my steam cleaner and a clean rag. Steam it, scrub with the rag and repeat.
