N54 stuttering when building boost/under load

I noticed this issue a few hundred miles ago, where if i were to give the car some throttle, towards high rpm it seems like the turbos arent pushing as much boost and the power seems to come in and out, and if i were to bring the rpm's past 5500-6000 rpm the i would almost always get a check engine light

I ordered new boost solenoids( not installed yet) but is there something else it could be?

If not throwing any codes, I would check to see if diverted valve is fully seated and locked. I had same issue and my diverted valve was coming off. I pushed it all the way back in and locked it and have been issue free.

Could be a few things, like misfires from bad plugs or coils, to fuel cut, etc... We need codes to help you.

A reasonable expectation. If you know that, then you know you should be smoke testing?

Actually, hold on. When you say "check engine light", do you mean the half engine light or the Service Engine Soon Light? Cause 30FF throws half engine, not SES.

Just pull the codes already. Why would you not start with that?

Half engine light. It only shows up on the little screen, not a service engine soon light

The code is stored, whether you see the light on start up or not. Read the codes.

The first thing you always want to do is read the codes. There is no point to more speculation about what might have caused the lights on your dash to go on or off. Just read the codes.

Just to be clear, you have one stored code and that is 30FF?

What are you checking codes with? What are your engine mods? If you have MHD make a log. If you don't have MHD, get it and make a log. It is also useful to install BMW standard tools on your laptop (bimmergeeks.com) and learn how to use them. They provide the ability to perform sophisticated diagnostic testing for short money - software is free and all you need is a $40 cable. Or you can just throw parts at this until you're broke.

There are a number of possible explanations for your failure to meet boost target (30FF) including leaks in the vacuum lines, boost solenoids, wastegate actuator, diverter valves. But there are other explanations and you really don't provide enough information for anything but a guess. Make a log.

I dont have mhd. I was thinking about it anyways, probably should given that its only $40

Im using inpa. And 30ff is for sure not the only code its throwing, but the most significant. Im getting codes like (not quoted, but off the top of my head) alternator problems. Forgot exactly what it was but around that

And what would mhd tell me exactly for $40?

I have also bought some silicon vacuum lines that will come monday. I took off my engine cover snd noticed about 2-3 spots (in the whole engine) that didnt look so good

So you withheld other codes that you thought were not significant? No one is going to be able to help you if you don't provide all the information available.

One of MHDs most useful functions is logging. If you don't know what that is, do some reading on this forum.

Ive been driving it for 2 days now. No check engine lights, boost seems to be consistent and hitting targets, everything seems to be fine.

Hm. Weird

MHD is not $40. The cable is $40. The app itself is technically free if you just want to pull codes. To Monitor or Log you need to pay another $70. Logging will tell you different information than codes, like how your fuel pump is doing or if your fuel trims are screwed up, or maybe you turbos are struggling to make boost. You say your car feels slow, this willl tell you for sure.

If you want to Flash maps/tunes it will be $100. Upgraded tunes/map packs are another $50. Don't start modding your car though until you've done a bunch of maintenance.
