N54 valve cover won't come of - any tips?

I'm in the middle of doing my valve cover gasket, I'm at removing the valve cover now and it just won't budge. I double checked all bolts were lose as well and they are.

I tried to pry a bit near the OFHG side of it and pull hard up from the intake manifold side but it won't lift. I can't go crazy with pry bars either since I'm reusing cover and don't want it to crack.

Anyone encountered a tricky cover when you did yours. What did you do just keep going at it?

Yes, they're always sticky. One of many reasons you should be replacing it.

I found it much easier having an extra set of hands helping out. If all the bolts are fully unthreaded you just need to keep going at it.

Make sure you sandwich the new gasket between two beads of Ultra Black

Rubber mallet. A pry bar puts too much force in one location - just tap it a bunch all around, and it will come loose eventually!
