Tire Weight

How carefully do you scrutinize tire weights when buying new treads? I was just browsing Tire Rack and, assuming their data is correct, there's about a 5-6 lb spread between the lightest 235/45/18 and heaviest.

For instance, Goodyear GS-D3 are listed at 26 lbs, while PS/2's are listed at 22 lbs. Both great tires but I'd guess that an extra 4 lbs per corner would notably impact acceleration, don't you think?

I just think it's weird that we closely scrutinize wheel weights but nobody ever mentions tire weight. It seems crazy to buy lightweight wheels and then laden them with heavy tires.

I know there's more to tire performance than weight, but it does seem to be a worthy consideration. Am I wrong about this?

Not silly at all, just wheels are more permanent than tires for most people. They buy wheels once, and bad tires get replaced. I personally love PS2's for just that reason, they are very light weight, yet still provide awesome handling, comfort, low noise, decent wear, etc. Just gotta pay for them!

You already answerd your own question!
Lighter wheels in combination of lightweight tires wil increase your acceleration.
I now because swiched from heavy wheels and runflat to lightweight wheels and tires!
