Hi all.
I am wondering if anyone has any ideas as to what happened to my 2001 325ci. I sold it to Plaza Motors back in Sept of 06 for my 335i, and assumed that the car would go to a good home b/c it was in such great shape. I saw it driving around during the summer of 2007 and it went to an 18 year old guy who seemed to love the car. I was told by a friend that he saw the car in a field, abandoned; of course I didn’t believe him. Sure enough, WBABN334X1JW48495 was sitting there, wrecked and fire damaged. If anyone has any incite to why the car is in this shape, I would love to know and maybe buy it back and fix it up. I have attached pictures of what it looks like now. I know I sound crazy (and we all are), but it was my first car, I was a bit attached and regretted ever selling it.

looks like a drug deal gone wrong. thats definitely acid on the rear quarter panels. Maybe a crazy GF messed that 18 yr olds' car up????

since the battery & gas is right there I was thinking a spark from an improperly fused amp, but acid makes sense, maybe battery acid?

Someone stole the wheels about a week later. I asked the landowner to apply for an abandoned title and I would buy the car from him etc, that didn't happen. I called the phone number on a checkbook I found in the car, they were rude and told me to *$% off. 3 weeks later I went to go look at the car and someone had towed it by strapping up the control arms and dragging the car about 300 yards down to a lower lot, the bumper is now ripped off along w/ the side skirts etc...... It really broke my heart to see the car like this, it also pissed me off to know some insurance company or bank is probably taking the bill for this....

sorry to revive such an old post, but the car is still there and it looks like I am going to get it.... It is in horribly rough shape now, been broken into etc etc... regardless, I am helping the shop apply for an abandoned title and I was wondering if anyone could please PM me the address and or any info you have about the owner or lien holder of wbabn334x1jw48495 (yes I still have that memorized).

Good luck man. I just found out that my first BMW (a 2000 323Ci) is for sale again - I have to admit the thought has crossed my mind of picking it back up for fun!

This story makes me wanna barf. Somebody definitely needs a trip to the woodshed for this egregious offense!! Hope this has a happy ending! Update with details when you can.

Update: Not going to happen. Everything was worked out w/ title, arranged to pick it up etc.... Went to go look at it... Seats are were gone, ECU gone, looked in the trunk and the main wiring harness has been cut and there is a fair amount of fire damage back there.... Parts of the motor have been taken off... etc etc... I ran the numbers and I would be much better off finding a clean one used (which I might do one day just for fun).... here are some pics. Also, notice that the vinyl seats were taken, but the HIDs, and Rogue Engineering Exhaust are still there... along w/ the 330ci sport spare wheel/tire.... (people are dumb)

Sorry to hear of the outcome. I'm sure your assessment is accurate, it would take a mountain of work/$$$ to restore. You're better off looking for a relatively clean one somewhere. Good luck.
