Son of a gun.. 100k miles.

Well. Title says all just hit 100k miles on my 09 335i and I have an oil leak! Coming from oil filter housing unit i am pretty sure. Obviously visible leaks at the OFH but today found 2 small drops of oil on my garage floor. I have the under belly pan on and it’s right under neath the engine. Could it be something else?

Do you think I may have it over tight and ruined the o rings? It doesn’t look like it’s leaking from where it connects to the manifold (gasket)

My guess based on your picture is either you have installed a crummy aftermarket filter and oring which a huge no-no, or you have split the oring on your filter.

When was your oil last changed?

So just to be clear, the OFH bolts to the cylinderhead, not the (intake) manifold.

If you did the oil change, which it sounds like you did, you may have not placed the large 0-ring in the correct groove in the oil filter cover. I suggest you reopen the oil filter cover and check the installation of the large o-ring.

If you can money-shift it, it's a manual transmission. "Yeah, but NO ONE puts an automatic trans shift knob on a manual transmission."

I did my last oil change 2k miles ago. Always use top oil and Mann filter. Have done my own changes 5-6 times never a problem. At 102k miles right now.

Their is a puddle on my under pan belly. I will take another photo

I did. It’s in correct spot. Thanks for all you’re replies.

O rings on oil filter cap look fine. Their in the correct spot. Still leaking. It’s piddling on my under belly. Lots of stained parts with oil. Will post a new picture but prob going ahead and ordering the gasket part and installing

Odds of the OFHG leaking so much to pool under the belly pan is slim.

If it's saturating the belly pan and dripping through I'd be more likely to guess an Oil Pan Gasket which is very common.

Nonetheless, if your OFHG is leaking that much then it's possible for it to be falling onto your drive belt and that should be your focus.
