Clicking when breaking

I'm not sure if other owners are experiencing this. When I'm slowing down and applying the breaks coming to a full stop I'm hearing a clicking sound coming from the front break Driver's side. The car still breaks good, And can't confirm if it's a pebble stuck in the heat shield (doubt it as it doesn't squeak or scrape).

Just wanted to see if other have heard or experienced this before taking to dealer to check out. Thanks!

YES SAME HERE! Was going to get it checked out next time I'm back at the dealer (when they have the oil filter in stock for my break in service)

Hmm. I think I might be on the same boat here. I'll be paying more attention to this when I brake.

Perhaps it is associated with start/stop function? I notice that the car seems to want to come to a dead stop even when I'm just trying to coast from speed to a creep rather than a stationary stop.

Soo I was thinking the same thing but ruled the auto stop start function. There is an auto hold function though that I have used a few times. Maybe this has something to do with it although when I notice the clicking, that function is not on. But maybe using it in the past has done something to it or maybe it's just a function of the breaking system.

Sounds odd, I’d be more inclined to go down the pebble route than start stop or auto hold.

I have never heard any clicking or weirdness from my brakes. I always have the Start Stop function disabled. Press it once, it’ll stay off forever or until you press it again. Only on the M Cars. In the city, I always have Auto Hold on. Nice not have to hold the brake pedal at a stoplight or wherever. It only activates after a complete stop.

Anyway, if it’s not a pebble, I’d suggest a call or visit to the dealer.

Good luck!

My guess is the floating rotor design.
It is happening in most of the M cars starting with F10.

Happened in my F80 also. I just never got it checked out because I was trading it in.

I've also noticed it, noticed it in my F30 as well. When I had it checked out they mentioned it's because of the brake design.

I think this is normal.

Only have 130 miles on her at this point, ghstm2, but I haven't ever heard this. FWIW, I never use Auto-hold or Auto-Stop/Start. Good luck with resolution of your issue.

Thanks! Ya I've stopped using the auto hold feature unless I'm driving in the city. I will have it checked out and report back. At this time, breaking feel and distance has not changed and no other effects felt. So I'm guessing it's part of. The break design as others have mentioned.
