320d 177 Remap Details and Dyno Graph

We had our first opportunity to remap the 2.0d 177 BHP engine with EDC17 ECU this morning for a e90post member.

A very nice E91 M Sport

Here are the results: An additional 40 BHP and 60ft/lbs Torque.

I am sure the owner will post up his veiws shortly. I went for a drive in it and its impressive for a 2.0

The remap is carried out through the OBD port so no ECU removal.

The RRP of this remap is £499 inc VAT not including dyno runs.

For forum members we will carry out these remaps for £450 with free dyno runs. We have a limited mobile service. Please contact with your location for a quote.

Cars will be reflashed if dealer update wipes the remap.

We can arrange a group buy of 5 cars with a lower price if there is demand.

Impressive results.

Can't wait to hear from the owner what its like to drive.....maybe a chance to compare with my standard car?

I might be interested in teaming up with others for a better price (subject to an insurance payout shortly)

Before I bang on about the results let me first say how pleased I was with the service of Imran and the Evolve team - from start to finish...I've been to many 'tuner' outfits before and been disappointed on many occasions, but Evolve run a professional and knowledgeable setup with good kit and don't claim what they can not deliver. To me this is worth a lot - the fact that they're the first in the UK to offer the EDC17 remap for the same price as a tuning box should tempt anyone to go for it.

I have only had the remap for just over 24 hours but I've already driven a good selection of roads and covered 200 miles. The best way to describe the difference between the standard map and the Evolve map is like comparing a car with a restrictor in the air supply and then having it removed; not only is the car clearly more powerful everywhere in the rev range, but it also revs more freely and feels slightly less like a diesel (not as much as a 123d, but I think another turbo would have cost more ). The 320d is a heavy car, so the real increase in power is best felt in the higher gears (especially 4th and 5th) where the car effortlessly pulls well over 100mph when it slowed significantly around these speeds previously. Also because of the massive torque increase there is less need to hold it in a gear - fast progress in a relaxed driving style is now very easy.

Given that my car has only covered 1800 miles from new and still feels tight (backed up by the slightly disappointing 175hp pre-map figure) but managed such impressive gains in torque and power is pretty exciting, because once my car has loosened up after 10k miles, those figures should only get higher!

2008 BMW 320D:

BMW's Claimed Power: 177 ps
Actual Power: 175 bhp
Evolve Remap Power: 215 bhp

Power Increase: 40 bhp

BMW's Claimed Torque: 258 ft/lb
Actual Torque: 285 ft/lb
Evolve Remap Power: 345 ft/lb

Torque Increase: 60 ft/lb

I'd echo the above comments - Evolve did my 330d and its superb, and the service they give is excellent - very highly recommended!

I found my E92's 320d weakness to be the pull in top gear at say 80mph, it really didn't pick up and go as much as I'd have liked, has the remap imporoved things in this area?

That is where the remap has made the biggest difference imo. Before I felt the need to drop down to 5th to have a noticeable pickup in speed, now that's unnecessary. Sounds like this is exactly what you need.

You'd be right if I still had my 320d

0-62 mph?

what would be 0-62 mph? / 0-100km/h

the new 325D with 400nm and 200hp gives 0-100 km/h about 7.4s
with this remap the 100kg lighter 320d should take close 7s to reach 100km/h?

regards,
Kai

I'll try and get some 'Dynolicious' stats this weekend, but yeah, I think 7 seconds is achievable with this remap.

I have tested the E91 320d (163bhp) with a tuning box (195bhp) and got an average of 7.5 secs to 100km/h. This was using a BEL FX2 accelerometer.

Hopefully the ED engine should make 7 secs.

Chaps - I didn't manage to get any timings this weekend (what's the point when its wet anyway) but after 1500 miles to the 'ring, much of that in a 'spirited' fashion, the engine has loosened up quite a lot more and wow, this remap is really impressive. In fact I had a few much quicker cars really struggle to pass me on at the 'ring. The midrange torque from 2000rpm is very powerful all the way to around to just before the redline - its now possible to kickout the back end of the car under power in 2nd, imo the car can now make the most of its excellent chassis setup.

Once again, thanks to Evolve! - can I come back and see if its making more power?

Good to know its 'Ring tested now

Of course you can come back and see how its doing - just bring your wallet with you

On a serious note we are going to organise a rolling road day soon with proceeds going to Great Ormond Street but will start a seperate thread about that.
