Delphi VS Genuine BMW (+Edlor?)
Hey,
I am sure this isn't even close to the first time this has been brought up. I need to order new coils and spark plugs and so down the rabbit hole, I went. ECS has the service kit for $476.62 https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-...2137594937nkt/ Is there any reason I should pay this amount and not go with the same manufacture of the coils and plugs? It's nearly $200 bucks cheaper. https://www.pelicanparts.com/More_In...I=6914&DID=897 https://www.pelicanparts.com/cgi-bin...20%28DELPHI%29 I also saw that the N54 engine has switched over to the Eldor coils. I have the N55 335. Do these engines uses the same plugs? Or is there a reputable dealer for them? I may be paranoid but it just seems like there is knock-offs of everything these days and I don't want the fakes. Thank you in advance! Avery |

Have you found an answer? Maybe put the parts, plugs and coils, in the post title?
Good luck |

+1 for FCP Euro. I like their package deals on maintenance kits. For example, plugs and coils as complete set for the N55 runs around $220. Last time I bought a single coil for an N52 from the BMW dealership the cost was around $130 plus a poor attitude. Quality from FCP is OEM at a minimum and they have a good warranty. I also like ECS and Turner.

Call me a peasant, but I got a set of coils from Autozone. Cheap, in-stock down the street, and a year later they are working just fine. They look better made than the OE ones too!

BMW doesn't make coils, they just buy them and somebody stamps their name on them.
FCP sells lots of stuff, and they guarantee the stuff they sell. It doesn't pay for them to sell junk. |

I bought one from Autozone years ago and it was a Delphi rebranded as Duralast. Works great no issues.

This video might be helpful. From what I understand, Eldor is just the latest revision/supplier they use. All will work fine. When I changed out my spark plugs/coils I went with Eldor and stock spark plugs. Soon I'll be switching my plugs to NGK's. I also picked it up from FCPEuro. |

You can’t test these coils as you would older style ones where you can check primary and secondary windings. |
