Nurburgring Nordschleife Private Day in an E90
Had the pleasure of running the Nordschleife on Monday with RSR for one of their private days. Every time I go to the ring, I rent this E90 RCN/VLN car from one of the teams. Sure, you can rent plenty of new M2's, GT3's, and whatever new car you want, but there's nothing like being in a FIA race prepped E90 when you have the place to yourself.
The video is a little crappy, as it was a VBOX Lite, and not the full blown HD2 system, but its enough to replay the fun. If anyone has the opportunity to sign up for this even in the future, I highly recommend it! Old girl ran roughly an 8:41 Bridge to Gantry time on Hancook High Performance summer rubber. No question that without having to slow for some passes in awkward places and pushing a little bit harder, she would have been right around 9 Minutes flat on a full lap pace, which is pretty remarkable. When I first ran this car a couple years ago, it's what convinced me to buy an E90 for a driver... Col pic in Pflantzgarten after the jump into the second braking zone before turn in. What a blast! |

I bet that's a blast! I crewed for an e90 325i at a VLN a couple of months ago...great experience! Pretty mad sharing a pit box with a GT3 team too...
That car was running just over 10min complete laps (on Michelin slicks $$$). Poor little thing is just flat out everywhere! |

Very cool. I wonder what the specs are on their race prepped E90s?

The one I worked on (can't remember class) was totally stock except shocks and springs, suspension bushings (regs dictate stock rsfb though, haha), roll cage, no interior, full exhaust, and fancy tyres. Still not cheap racing!!

This looks like a lot fun! Whats the rate to run something like this on a private day? I’d like to get over there one day and give the run the a try - wasn’t aware this set up was an option.

Sorry I'm slow to respond... busy weekend.
Track day itself was €800 and the car was €895 plus fuel. |

No worries on response rate. That’s a pretty penny but not when you consider a nearly empty track and a fully sorted car. That’s darn near a deal compared to building owning, etc on price per lap.

I thought the opposite - seems expensive. I could find a fun little beater on cl for $2k and take upstate ny twisties for the price of gas. It might not make it back, but still!

I'm sure it's the going rate, and reflects the underlying costs without taking the mick... But that's a lot of money on one day. Compare that with how much you'd earn in a day/week/month!
Glad you enjoyed it op, but you won't find me there at that cost. |

Yes, its pricey for a single day... but it IS the Nordschliefe and its basically empty. On a tourist day, you simply can't lap like that. Too much traffic and too many rookies.
Fortunately or unfortunately, that's the going rate for those premium Ring days. The car is worth every penny if you're an avid track day person or licensed race driver. This stuff it my passion... so it's worth the price of entry. |

If you guys think that expensive build a car of this caliber, price tracks days worth of consumables at this level then all the yearly maintenance and your time that’s involved.
You not only won’t get to drive the ring but I guarantee your cost per mile will be higher and you don’t to walk away when it breaks. If you can afford to buy seat time it’s way more fun than owning... If you want actual track time. If you just like to buy stuff and fix it with no residual value then we’ll thats a different argument. |

I don't think anyone disputed the price for what the op did. All we said was eur1700 is a lot of money, and could be spent in other ways. The price of driving a prepped car on a quiet ring is the price it is...no way around that!
