Lane assistant...calibration?
Every now and then I play with the lane assistant. I find that it seems to lose the lane markings often (green lines disappear) even though to my eyes they are clearly marked. Is this a calibration issue? Or does this happen to everyone?
I will probably never use it as a regular feature but I don't understand why it can't see what I can clearly see. |

I thought you need to turn on both Lane Keep Assist and ACC for traffic jam assist, that's about the only time I use it (TJA does work well though)

I don't really use LKA by itself, I know what you're saying though, even on highway it seems to loose it more often than I think it should

I would try a calibration if I where you.
I use lane assist almost all the time. Just relax a hand in steering wheel and the car sits perfect in the lane for 98% of the road. Highways and small streets. If lane markings is not there it will follow the car in front and drive where he drives. Works perfect if you take the time to understand it and ofcourse make sure that it works as intended. |

I recall there is (or was in F cars) a way to code LKA to see curbs/grass better.

I'll be very interested in what they say. Like you, I have tried to use lane assist only to be mostly disappointed at how it constantly looses lane markings and generally requires my constant input. I have given up on lane assist as anything but a gimmick, but I agree that ACC is fantastic, now that I have gotten used to it.

if it's looking for reflectors then I can see why, not sure about other parts of the world, but I don't see a lot reflectors here for sure...

I don't think it's a lack of reflectors, but you do need prominent and very clear marks on the road. I get similar issues on a lot of our roads here. The computers on the G30 seem to lose track of the lane quite easily - and noticeably worse than other cars I've had with same kind of tech. It's probably just down to the way they've coded their optical recognition.

Good observation clee1982 There's a huge variation in road conditions between different countries that makes our experiences incomparable to some degree. As an example, I'm a regular user of LKA whether that's city driving or on motorways. The majority of time, I don't have any issues and car keeps to its lane or follow the car in front. It's not perfect but does a great job in reducing fatigue from driving.
