X3MC vs 2017/2018 Macan GTS
Hey,
Not sure if you have been struggling to decide either or on these two great cars. X3MC has lots great technologies, safety and most power but Macan GTS looks sharp and handling is quite different than BMW, GTS has the nicer interior though. GTS is only having a used one for consideration but I can have brand new on BMW. Which one you would choose? I have 17 M2 in my fleet and really need a SUV for my 1st child coming. X3MC seems to have more space than GTS, I have been struggling on these two over a month and the budget is fine for either or. Please share your opinion and love to get some aspect from you folks. |

No brainer, the X3MC is no slouch in the handling dept. It has better tech than the Porsche, and it’s no contest power wise, or space wise. The X3MC will blow the doors off the Macan GTS.

I drove a 2019 Macan for a week as a loner when the dealer was servicing my 911. Hated it due to the awkward step in dimensions (step up, duck down). Plus too small. Left it parked as much as I could and drove my wife’s 2015 X5 35i which is now a 2020 X3MC. I love Porsche, but if I bought their suv, cayenne or nothing. X3M kills the Macan.

I didn't feel it at first (and thought everyone was crazy for saying so), but more recently realizing it driving in different parts of the city. Other daily is an M2, so while the X3MC isn't as stiff, you definitely aren't driving on a cloud. If I had to choose again, we'd still go with the X3MC. |

No just the M40i and the ride is honestly garbage even on tiny 19" wheels. I can't even imagine M suspension with 21" wheels. Probably stiffer than my F80. First time parent here. I prioritized being "cool dad" over ride comfort and quiet cabin for sleeping baby. Have to get gas all the time with 19 mpg, going to have to replace tires probably before 20k miles. PITA.

It’s the way it reacts to bumps that make it jarring for us. Ours is riding on the 20 inch summer tires option. We never felt harshness on the X3M. Everything is subjective in the end.

Every pending decision - Car 1 vs Car 2 - advantages and disadvantages present themselves more than once making the process to make the decision less and less easy.
My neighbor has 2 kids and he often mentions how his current SUV - larger than X3M - doesn't have enough space. I'd say if space is important, Macan isn't a top choice. |

Macan air suspension is absolutely sublime. I have it on my SQ5 and my buddy has it on his Macan S. On SQ5 it handles well and is extremely comfortable and on the Macan it is incrementally more stiff but still incredibly comfortable. So if you want a comfortable ride with great handling, I am sure Macan with air suspension would be better than X3M.
Interior space is another story. The Macan is small on the inside. Yes you can fit 4 adults but it's not spacious and the rear cargo is minimal if you have rear seat passengers. Lastly, after driving a Macan S and a Macan Turbo the X3M will be substantially quicker. Last edited by Transfer; 08-27-2019 at 02:38 PM.. |

One of the reasons I decided on the Jaguar F-Pace SVR is its marginally larger interior space. Having had five children grow to adulthood in my cats, I completely agree that prioritizing rear seat space is critical. My e60 M5’s rear seat was marginal at best until the child seats were no longer needed.

No. Was considering the Macan Turbo, MB GLC63, and X3/4M before deciding on the Jag. Had the M5 for 11 years, added a Yukon XL Denali during that time to haul the children and tow a race car trailer. No longer need anything that big with all kids having their own cars and going to college, so selling the Denali and replacing it with the Jag. (And after selling the M5, it has been too long with my wife having the fastest car in the family (MB CLA45)). |
