What if? Supercharged E9x M3
What if, just think about it, if ESS came out with a Twin screw Supercharger; or any other after market tuner. What do you think realistic HP will be? I am thinking, reliably, 530hp, with zero to 60 in the neighborhood of 4.0 or even 3.9.

0-60 is traction limited as is. I really don't understand why people are hung up on 0-60 in this day and age anyway. A supercharger won't help with that as much as it will with 0-100 times and trap speed.
Anyway, superchargers will come at some point. It will be interesting to see how this motor responds to boost compared to the E46. More displacement and revs to work with but the block of the E46 is most likely stronger, being iron. Some boost combined with 8400 rpm will be a killer package with more torque through the curve than the E46 M3. A conservative ~525 wheel is what we will probably see at first. |

I hate to say it, but I've had a supercharger on my E36 M3, and It was really reliable. But then again, I never had an aftermarket turbo, only a factory 1.8T passat.

What do you mean what if? G-Power already has a kit for $45,000 that yields something ~150hp. It's in this month's issue of modified luxury and exotics. They have a whole section devoted to M3 mods.

That is . 45K for a supercharger! They must be smoking some shit. I can buy a used 911 twin turbo for that price: 100k or so.

to do it right you would have to lower the CR to around 10.0 or so.....less if you want serious boost! 12.0CR does not lend itself to boost very well

I'm going to guess that the first s/c for the E9x will be ~450rwhp.

Same thing was said about 11.5:1. It is all in the tuning and the high compression ratio makes off boost driving much better.
