Dyno day

Finally got the chance to take my car to the dyno today for the first time, wanted to grab some baseline numbers before I do anything crazy. Was hot as a bitch outside today so I might've lost a little power but still happy nonetheless.

Not bad at all!

I think I'm going to switch to e30 myself. Been brainstorming a way to make it work, since the closest e85 station is an hour away. My plan is to buy eight 5 gallon gas cans, put 3.5-3.75 gallons of e85 in each one and then just fill them up once a month. I'm pretty close to that station a couple times a month when visiting our satellite office, so it's not exactly like I'm going out of my way. During the nice weather I go through about two tanks of gas a week, so I should be good for a month at a shot. Then come November, I'll just flash back to 93 Stage 2 and then go back to e30 in April. Don't really need the extra power in the winter. I only drive it around 500 miles a month in the winter anyway.

There are tons of local e85 stations around me so I don't have that problem like you do. But you have to remember that ethanol burns fast. With e30 I fill up every 2-3 days. 93 every 4-5 days. My car is a daily driver out almost 100 miles per day. If there weren't any stations near me that carried ethanol I wouldn't even risk and run it because of the hassle.

So your mileage is basically halved on e30?? That's nuts! I think I'm averaging 22 mpg now on 93. I figured I'd lose maybe 10% of that, not 50!

Expect at least 20% reduction just due to the nature of the fuel. And if you start enjoying it....ymmv

Hmm....found a line on some VP Racing 5 gallon containers on sale and I can get ten of them for a little under $200. Ten fillups should last four weeks. I might have to just go for it.

You should. E30 blend is very noticeable power wise on the B58 so it'll be worth it on your end.

This doesn't do fractions, but my F22 tank is 13.7 gallons, so I plan to mix 3.70 gallons e85 with 10 gallons 93.

You need to test your station's E85 content and then make the blend from that.

I do 4.5 gallons e85 (testing e83) with 9.2 gallons 93 just to be on the safe side. Car runs perfect and logs look clean!

I was actually way off. I had been averaging 24.8 on 93 for the last couple thousand miles. I'm now averaging 23.1 for the last 4 tanks on E30, so only ~7% drop. I would estimate maybe 15-20% drop on full E85.

Now, the big bonus?? I trapped 96.50 mph in the 1/8 on the Dragy at 61 degrees. These cars generally pick up 24-25 mph on the second half, so I can see an easy 120 trap. Car is a monster. Can't wait for Test & Tune next month.

yeah you know, that makes sense. i was speaking to full e85 not e30. so it shouldn't be that bad of a drop.
