Brake sensor, 5DE2, left right?
My pre-lci e90 has an error code 5de2. Google says "brakes, front axle". But it can't be brakes as I replaced the front pads and sensors fairly recently so must be a sensor fault. But do these cars not tell us which side? I don't want to waste my time fault-finding the wrong side if it can be helped.

"These cars" only have TWO (2) brake pad wear sensors:
1) Inboard pad on Left-Front (the one you want to check wiring on), and 2) Inboard pad on Right-Rear. BTW, are you getting any warning icons on the Instrument Cluster, and if so, have you checked to make sure CBS (Condition Based Service) was reset? George |

I have an exclamation mark in a circle within brackets. Also the car on the lift when I start or switch off the engine. I did an error memory delete with INPA but the 5DE2 is still there. I had the ECU replaced last year and it says that probably every service there is is overdue. I never bothered to correct it. Could it be the cause?

I just checked it using the indicator stock and it says -700 for the front brakes. I guess whatever it was set to on the replacement ECU it just expired 700 miles ago? Can I reset it? I tried holding the odometer button and then the BC button but it didn't work. I just got some numbers and letters.

Using the button next to the speedo and the indicator stalk I reset everything that was red. Some just reset automatically and some needed me to enter a date (I entered a random 2020 date for them). They all went from red to orange. Now they show a certain future date and a mileage. Except the front brakes. They turned to yellow colour and is not showing any miles or a date, it is showing a line of underscores instead. And I still getting the red circle with an exclamation mark in brackets with the car-on-lift when I start/stop the engine.
Any ideas? |
