Tires overinflated by dealer?

I took delivery of a new 330i xDrive last week. I checked the tire pressure before starting out in the morning one day, and noticed the tires were inflated to 39 Front/43 Rear. Recommended pressure is 32/38. I knocked the pressure down to 34/40.

Any reason why the dealer would have overinflated the tires?

The tires are always overinflated during the shipping process. The dealer should check and deflate the tires to the proper pressure prior the delivery to the customer.

Exactly this. And many dealers fail to address this prior to delivery. Most dealers prefer to store their cars with the higher tire pressure as it helps reduce flat spots that can occur when a car doesn't move.

Mine were even more overinflated 49 in front 56 in rear.

Crazy how the dealers let them off the lot like this.

They're too lazy to do a proper PDI when new car arrives. I just got a new 2020 430i loaner car with 41-43 psi.

Just checked mine: 44/40. Guess I should deflate front tires a bit...
