Using coaxial focal speakers in L7 car
I already have the coax speakers in a base audio system e90. Is it a mistake to replace the stock l7 speakers and tweeters in my l7 e90 with standard coax? I can always retain the l7 tweeters

If you retain the tweeters and wire in parallel I think there is a risk that you will essentially have 2x tweeters and have significantly increased (3db per side) treble output, as I believe in the base system the midranges rely on the drivers for natural rolloff.
If you install a cap in between the woofer and tweeter arrangement on the coax it could be Ok. Or you could disconnect either the coax tweeter or the L7 one. |

The L7 tweeters will be disconected since the coaxials do not have the proper connector for them. I was simply worried that having the tweeters belor the oem location would mess up the imaging, especially given that stock L7 is so narrow you'd say it's mono.

The impedance & efficiency difference to the L7 components would cause loss in output, which will mess things up in all different kind of ways, besides the imaging potentially dropping lower. I'll say don't do it. Have you tried adding tweeter to center channel. That'll help with imaging and brighten things up a bit. Cheap and effective!
