Is it not available in the catalogue? For Europe 2020 it's 3DS.

Just need proof of ownership and they will order you the key and then a quick code to vehicle when it comes in ,

Anyone know if it can be charged on any wireless charger, or just in the car? Seems counterproductive to charge in the car, since it occupies space where your phone should be, but I did see it had a micro port. Thanks!

* Looks like any QI will do, but 2 days seems a bit thin: more research....

Asked my dealership and they said it is not available for the X5 2019 as yet in USA. They can't even order it.

Wow that is an expensive toy. I think i will pass until it becomes officially available for the X5's in USA. I swear to god I read/heard somewhere that it costs $230 or $300 or something like that but I could be wrong or dreaming.

I have the other website that you are referring to and I passed on it only because of the hefty price tag.

If we are able to get the display key would we be able to pull the car out of the garage without being inside?

You can order the display key as part of the car order in Canada (and possibly other countries) for $300, but NOT in the U.S.

It is available in the U.S. as a supported device (dealer can code it for your specific car) but I believe it has to be ordered as a part rather than as an option. I think I saw somewhere that it was US$900, but I can't seem to find a link at the moment.... maybe I'm remembering one of Smithcinema 's posts...

That was my expectation as well, especially after seeing a video of the display key doing exactly that with an 850i, but apparently that functionality is not (yet?) available for the X5.

I was certain I had seen an early ad back in 2018 that specifically mentioned that functionality with an X5, but there currently seems to be no info from BMW to suggest that is the case.

Key has no use it's basically a major wow factor everyone who sees it is totally amazed they could care less about the x5 interior or anything about the truck everyone just wants to see the key lol , it's for techies !!!! Truly the x5 don't need a key it stays in your pocket and you never touch it so it's not needed BUT I love this thing and being available on the x5 I would have paid double for it

I found these two feature really useful when you have Display Key:

1) Two-way remote start. You will see your car feedback if remote start command was successful or not. With regular fob, you never now if the car is on or off.

2) Pull the car out of the Park without being inside. Useful in tight area.

I just saw the presentation video and it it was cool. I hoped it works everywhere. But to be honest I totally lost my trust to BMW tech and features. They are flimsy and not working as expected.

Display key is useless. In the UK it only allows you to change the vehicle height, and 'ventilate'. No remote start etc.

Given that I actually don't use it, every other week or so it tells me it's out of battery, so I need to USB charge it. Quite frankly I could do without it, but ordering another 'normal' key is £250 it seems.

Both types of keys can do remote start if the option is added. It might've been an option you needed to select or it was part of a package in your market.

As for auto park, that feature I believe is only reserved for 5 and 7 series, or at least that's the case in North America, really weird

Hi imdexter, do you have the title or link of the video? I don't think auto park is available on the 8 series (only available on the 5 and 7), at least that's the case in North America.

Thanks
