EPS and ECU/FEM issue

Dear all
I am new to the forum and I look for this topic but couldn't find it, please help me with a link if there any exist.

I want to know if the EPS on 2014 bmw 335i f30 is waterproof, secondly if you you change ECU, FEM and ICM does it make the EPS not to work, the steering become very hard?

I also have a 2014 335i and can tell you that the EPS is NOT waterproof, and water is kind of a BMW-Killer, so be very careful in heavy rain and avoid driving in such situations if possible. I've had the EPS go out twice from water damage. The first time it happened (after disconnected the negative battery lead), I got underneath to disconnect the 3 electrical connectors and clean them thoroughly with electrical parts cleaner. After several days, everything dried and the EPS eventually returned to normal. The same thing happened again recently...just hoping it dries and works again...You can try using duct tape around the wires/connectors and zip-tie some bubble wrap or other material around the module to make it closer to being waterproof. The real problem, in my opinion, is the cheap plastic housing at the back as it's easy for this to crack and expose the circuit board...

And, yes, I think you will need to reprogram the EPS if you change ECU, FEM, and ICM. There is a great specialist with a YouTube channel (BMW Programming & Encoding) with a lot of information about this stuff.

Hi,

I managed to change the EPS and everything starts working fine but after coding and learning the EPS, the car won't let me pass 21mph when driving, it will just automatic brake but I can move on 21mph and below, diagnosing show everything is fine no error code. We then disconnected the two front ABS sensors and the car can run faster but the stability control is flashing and steering is a bit hard, please help me what could be the problem?
