Then you should probably only have to have the lights swaped and aligned.
This isnt a easy DIY job, since the bumper needs to be removed and when the lights are in they need to be aligned. A willing dealer may be best for this. Where did you get the lights from ? I just hope you got the corret adaptive Xenons ( Europe gets 2 types of Xenons ) and ones for Left hand drive cars

Welcome to the forum! Someone here recently bought the clear housings. I don't know if he's installed them yet, but if you do a search you should find his post. He may be able to help.
Second post and she calls E90Fleet sir!

I would agree with using the dealer too.
The reason is, if any problems occur you will be covered. Going with a non-dealer and you may have warrantee or other issues. How does your b/f feel about people touching/working on his car (other than the dealership)? Or, you could just give him the lights (in a nice box of course ) and let him decide about how to have installation done. |

Almost forgot to say welcome to the forum
I would reccomend you surprise him with the lights before they are installed, sothat he is involved with the fitment and knows what has been done and by who

Longtran might have installed his by now, and if so he might have some advice and instructions. I agree with the others though, give them to him as boxed gifts and let him decide how they get installed.

My dealer charged me for 3.5 hours of labor. My headlight assemblies didn't come with lights so they had to swap out my bulbs, and stuff. I think the dealer is the best option in case there are any complications.

they refuse to install the headlight on the car
Keep trying...maybe a different dealer?? I talked to a dealer here in SD about it. I am tempted on ordering them....they told me that it should be no problem if I bring in the units. They estimate that it would cost 2 hours of labor to do the entire swap for me.

I swap the headlight from Halogen to Xenon and I paid $90 for labor fee here.
Of course, changed the unit and everything so it works. Why the dealder refuses to install xenon headlight unit? They are very familiar on this!

the dealership most likely doesn't want to be liable for 'illegal' mods, i.e. if the car with clear corners got into an accident later on? people can sue the dealership for installing the headlights --> which might've caused the accident..blah..blah, stupid, I know, but they're watching out for their backs.
