Unable to import mp3 from phone to iDrive hard drive
Hey guys!
Just got a 2019 X3 and tried for the first time to transfer some mp3 in the car's hard drive using my phone. I put like 200 mp3 in the music folder of my Samsung S9. I used the USB cable to connect the phone to the car. The car sees my phone and I can play the songs. But for some reason the "Import" function grayed out - not allowing me to transfer the songs to the car's hard drive. Am I doing something wrong? |

Here is my issue. Downloaded CD's to my memory in my 2018 4 series. I then exported them to a USB stick. Brought home my wife's new 2019 X3 and attempted to import my music collection to her car's memory via the USB stick. I received a message that the playlists were unreadable. My computer knowledge is limited but I suspect it has something to do with formatting of the CD's. Anyone care to offer any suggestions and/or advise? Thanks.

Best way is to "rip" the CD"s using Win Media Player or something. Best Filetype would be FLAC. Put the ripped files on a USB stick and store them on the HD of the X3.

Yes, it has a harddrive. Only 20GB, but it's there.

Downloading from phone will (probably) not work... USB cable?? There are USB ports depending on which options you have... Deleting from system: Yes "Like listening one song and song like it and delete and go next and so forth" What?!?!? And 20GB is not that much, if you use HQ music. FLAC or so... Have 40GB in my current Audi, which is full, so I also use 2x 64GB SD cards :P But you listen via YouTube, so 20GB is a whoooooole lot for you...

you really need a manual to find the USB port? Here is a hint - take a look at the center console.

It says Fat 32. Is their an easy way to change that to something that would work? If there is, keep in mind I would need a step by step instruction since my computer skills are limited. Thanks.

I appreciate your help but I may be in over my head. What is FLAC? If I changed the format to ex fat or NTFS would that be helpful? As I mentioned the original downloads were from music on CD's. Thaks for your patience.

Deleting individual files using the iDrive controller is clunky and slow. Your best bet is just store your music files on a thumb drive, which you can easily add or delete files on a PC, and forget about the 20 GB hard disk (which is a partition on the NAVI system's hard disk) altogether. trigger happy typing "Like listening one song and song like it and delete and go next and so forth" I meant if I put all my songs on the harddrive and then started listening to them one by one, is there way to instantly delete the song from the nav screen or steering wheel if I don't like it? ? Or do i need to basically write or remember the song and then scroll down the list and delete it individually. I'm thinking if you can't delete the song on the spot, I probally should organize music I will actually listen to before dumping it into the car. |
