just picked up a new x5 and having issue with texts

first off when i get a text it shows the drop down alert but there is no contact. doesn't show/tell me who it's from. if i try to reply it says theres no number associated with the text? i've uploaded and re-uploaded my contacts and still nothing

how do i enable siri to do voice texting?

i've enabled carplay, but how do i switch to the carplay menu?

thats my biggest issue. i dont like to touch my phone while driving. but if i get a text i dont know who it's from and i cant reply.. i just wish i could enable siri by long pressing the voice button

The long press for calling Siri was working until the 03/2019.30 software release and they have not restored it yet. Hopefully they do with the 07/2019.xx that will be out soon. I switched to using CarPlay so I'm able to call Siri and do texting. Not sure I want to use it as the permanent solution but may have no choice if they don't restore the long press functionality.


omaralt - if you have CarPlay running then you can long press the microphone button to call Siri. If you just want to get to the CarPlay menu then you can press up on the controller and select CarPlay or just "Hey BMW CarPlay" will bring it up.
