Alarm Super Sale!!!
Everyone in Toronto area:
I drop off my car this morning try to fix the rattle noise again, and the service department offer a super sale for E90 Alarm. CAD$410 Installed!!!!. It is BMW AutoHause in Toronto. Yes. CAD$410.....Installed. Cheaper then buying it from ebay. If anyone interested, book now, I am sure it will go fast. I told them to keep my car overnight, so the can install the alarm for me tomorrow as well. So I still have the loaner car (a brand new 325i with only 300km on it ). Anyway, just want to let everyone know , since I always think BMW Overprice their alarm.

You guys think it would be worth it adding an alarm to a leased car? I just started my lease about 3 weeks ago and have 36 months to go...I take it that if anyone steals it or tries to steal it, car isn't mine anyway so why worry....thoughts?

And they tell me they doing this Alarm deal. Not only E90.....They also doing it on X3 too (Even cheaper, $380 i think). Then I ask them to add my email into their database, so when they have more special, they will email me. The SA told me they will start the wheels and summer tire packet sale very soon.....

I live in Michigan and I am thinking of driving to Toronto and making a little trip out of it. Probably about $300 US dollars, can't beat that. But then would I really benefit from an alarm. decisions decisions.

dzenno, i think that this was discussed before, but in my opinion I think that the alarm is worthless in a bigger city (you live in toronto). How many times did you hear a car alarm and think, oh my god, what is going on? It is just normal background noise, such as the train, bus, cars, horns, etc. The alarm does nothing to protect your car from being stolen, such as disabling the fuel line or starter...from what I understand. All you get is an audible alarm and the famous BLINKING LIGHT on your mirror. Could that be enough for a deterrent? Could be, and if so, then worth it. They cannot start your car because of the computer chip in your key, so the only thing that they can do is tow it away. That takes less than 4 minutes, if that at times. IMO, if you feel scared about your car being stolen, then just get BMW assist and that way they can tell you where your car is if it is stolen and direct the police to it.

I think the alarm is pointless in any E90 not just a leased one.
The car can't be easily hotwired - there's no cylinder to jam a screwdriver into. If someone want's to steal your ipod sitting on your dash, they are going to smash the window and take it - alarm or no alarm. It will maybe stop the car being flatbedded away - if anyone takes notice of the alarm noise. Save your dough and buy other stuff.

I was a little skeptical when I heard about this deal but I called today and confirmed the info. They needed by VIN# to ensure they could do my car (their concern was production date)... I still dont really understand why that mattered so much but it wasn't a concern in my case. I have my appointment booked for Monday. The SA told me this promo was originally offered to customers purchasing a car there but they have some extra units and are offering the deal till their stock runs out. I didnt buy my car from them and this wasnt a problem with them either. The SA was really nice on the phone and I sensed they are ultimately trying to get me use their service department (even though I dont expect to have to bring my car in for service much at all).

Dealer suggested $500 for alarm and more for installation. Insurance said they'ed give me $10 a year discount. Hmmm, it would take 50 years or more to recoup the cost. And the vehicle pretty much protects itself.
Now if the YOBs will only leave my tire valve covers alone. |
