Cell phone mount
I don't have a pressing need for it, but if I wanted a (perhaps temporary) mounting bracket for a cell phone in a current X3, what would be good choices? Blocking much of the iDrive screen wouldn't be good, nor would a lot of rattling or vibration.

I'm using this, very solid. Sometimes it falls of, but not sure whether because of the design or my bad mounting.

This Kenu Airframe is my go to iPhone mount. I place it on the passenger side, just below the screen. I have an iPhone XS and it works very well.

I've been using the Weathertech Cup Holder ... it is the best cell phone holder I've used.

Cup Holder Phone Mount
For a very reasonable price - and without attaching something to your dash, window, vents, CD player etc - I'm going to be purchasing this unit. Anyone else had experience with this product? I really like the reviews - and the videos are great. Would love some feedback! I'll also follow up after I receive the unit - looking forward to reporting back.

Ive been looking for a cell phone holder for a while now. Ive never liked the ones that mount to the vent or windshield. I havent really found an area on or around the dash to mount one either. After seeing the cup holder ones, I may go that route.

Another vote for megnetic phone holders! I bought a Syncwire this week for my M140i and have it attached to the vent to the left(UK) of the steering wheel.
It's amazing. Unlike other magnetic holders, it has a ball joint for choosing the right angle and serrated teeth that keeps it secure. Lifting my phone to it and grabbing it when getting out of the car is already 2nd nature and only requires one hand. In the car it's been a revalation and aleaviated the centre console from being a dumping ground for keys, phones, and drinks. I bought it in order to use Android Auto in the car but like it more as a phone holder. I've ordered a second one so that I have one in both cars. FYI: I still get a waft of air from the blocked vent.

Ram Mounts is a company to at least know about. I use a lot of their products and am heavily invested in their size "B" ball base system. I even use their mounts on both my golf push cart, and when in a riding cart. The best part is that once you buy into their modular component system, you can reconfigure your components to build a new mount for a different application.

Initially I was looking for a cup holder mount that charged my phone as well but didnt find any I liked so I settled for this one from Amazon. You can see about 80% of the phone when its in the mount.

Phone Mount
Here is the thread I started about the kuda mount I'm using. Takes a bit of work and dash disassembly but I like it. It ends up a mish mash of a couple different mounts, but the that huge center magnet lets me attach any amount I want to use. If you can stick a metal plate to it, you can use it. The specific mounts I choose have qi charging.

I cant wait for a company to start creating something more in par which flows with the interior aesthetics of the X3.
I currently enjoy the cellphone mount on my MB. Does not cover any parts of the screen and the vents are also not covered. And it doesnt look like crap when not in use. https://ibb.co/YZQVNpG https://ibb.co/RDy3YS7 Last edited by suby01; 09-04-2019 at 04:33 PM.. Get the wireless charger option (or 3rd party).. that combined with wireless CarPlay = no need for ugly mount.
