Regarding any customizable pre-sets that I can have the dealer program before delivery, the ones I know about and have already communicated to them are as follows:
DRL's - don't want them.
Remote programmed to seat/mirror poisition - yes.
Doors lock at 5 mph - yes.
All doors unlock with one remote click - yes.

Is there anything else? Obviously I don't have the owner's manual yet and it is not available on line.

For the e90 all car/key memory customization is done via Profiles Settings on i-drive or BC stalk (non-idrive) cars...

To the list you mentioned, there's also driveway lighting (set duration) and lock/unlock confirmation (lights and/or audible if equipped with OEM alarm)

You can do this yourself via the OBC. Don't need dealer to pre-program.

When I learned how to change these settings myself using the owner's manual, I decided I mostly liked them and left them at the defaults. I did turn on the key memory feature though that stores all those settings (seat, mirror position, etc) in your key fob and activates them when you unlock the car).

The key also stores your last radio/CD settings and climate control settings...

Just to further clarify, the dealer no longer sets these.

Of course, during delivery, the dealer should do training on Personal Profiles, but it's very easy - thanks to iDrive.

See page 26 (I think) of this month's Roundel for a brief article on Personal Profiles and how they replaced car/key memory programing.

It's on various pages from 22 to 38. Make sure that you have the VIII/05 (I think it's Aug./05) or later version of the manual.

Looking at the manual linked above, there are no stalk-based settings changes on pages 22-38.

On page 44 it describes how to set your seat/mirrors to adjust depending on the key inserted

On page 96 is describes how to enable/disable DRL :

Again, how can you change these settings via the stalk?

You'll be able to make all those configurations yourself, so the best thing to do is decide what you think you want and set it. You can always change it if you don't like it. Congrats on the impending delivery of your baby!

You could make all these configurations through iDrive easily but I'm sure your CA can do it for you when you are taking delivery of the car. My CA has a 05 545i with iDrive so he was very familiar with the options. He set up my options and showed me all the options which took almost 2 hours! I still use his configuration and hints today...

I'm tooling around in a 06 325Xi loaner while waiting for my 330i/MT/SP which should arrive next week.

I've had this car 4 weeks (started with 20miles) and have all the features down pat - except how to change the settings like you can with iDrive.

I've managed to get into the change mode via the stalk but do not see any reference to this in the manual. I guess I'll have to do trial and error until I puzzle out which setting is which.

Oh, and my CA and I are not on speaking terms and I have no faith in the selling dealer. I'm assuming any changes I want will be on a pay-basis from the dealer I intend to service the car.
