Should I get the rear spoiler?

It seems like most of the posts on here regarding the spoiler seem to be related to people having problems with it lifting up and/or other issues. I know it looks pretty cool but is it worth all the trouble? I would probably be hesitant to install it myself and I’m not sure if my dealer would do a good job. I have a body shop that I have used in the past and they do excellent work but not sure if they have done one of these yet or how much they would charge. I also would not want to leave a perfectly good car at a body shop for too long.

well I didn't have much problem installing it and it is pretty easy compared to other mods ^^ there are some mods that you can do by yourself and this one is probably the easiest I'd say? It was much easier than changing the OEM rearlights to blacklines for me. It is easy and if you can be careful and be clean for maybe 10mins? you'll be alright~

I want to get it too, but I'm waiting to see if problems occur with spoilers already on for an extended period of time. I would rather leave the truck lid as-is rather than have the ends of the spoiler come up over time.

It's not that big of a deal, but the OEM prob will be like this until the body changes again. I do love mine, it adds something to the rear. But again, It's only a personal preference.

I agree it's a personal decision. For me, the rear spoiler takes away from the sophisticated look. I would probably like it more in the coupe or M3 version since it screams sporty.

I think the E90 rear end design had a unfinished look to it, so I installed the OEM immediately after I got the car. I enjoy the looks of it and so far I had not have any of these lifting up issue, and I even did a DIY on it with photos.
I main thing I emphasized was using betalink glue, built-in tape, and to spread more of the glue at the ends, where theres an issue of lifting.
I taped it securely tight and even secured it with homedepots $2-3 clamps during its 6 hr. cure at the recommended weather temp of 60-90 degree F.
I would have not trust something like this even from bodyshop mechanics that may have not enuf experience with BMW spoilers of this type. Most of the rear spoilers that i have installed (2x) were bolted and glued. I wish BMW did it the same way!
So! far no issue on my spoiler lifting up! 8mos and 10k miles later!
