Huh? We have been saying for months (and BMW for the matter) that the 335d will only be in sedan form, no coupe and no wagon.....
Since the original thread was moved/edited the link was removed and some of the following thread may make no sense without the original link.... so here it is from:http://www.bimmerfile.com/2008/08/05...rsion-us-335d/

I do wish we would have seen the lesser diesels as well, but I get the point they are pushing; bring the best and get rave reviews then let the lesser ones follow and since the precedence has already been set, they too will be positively viewed.

Ok I take it you did not READ the post or READ anything else about the Advanced Diesels.....
It is clearly stated there.

You'd have to be loaded to get those. The Diesels average $5 or more per gallon. How much is the HP on those?

They are 20-25% more efficient so that means even if the fuel costs more per gallon you go 20-25% further on that gallon than on gas, so as long as it is not 20-25% more per gallon you are saving money and the environment as emissions are less that gas now. Diesel is currently only 7% more than Premium ($4.55 national avg. for diesel vs. $4.23 for premium.) As for HP... this has been beat to death and I along with others have extensively explained the systems. It will be about 286 HP with ~425 ft/lbs of torque.... and get 25% better mpg, it is impressive. It is the same concept of the new laundry detergents: they are in smaller bottles, you use less per load it washes better.... no wonder they had to spend millions in advertisements to explain Less=More, most in the US do not get that concept! I blame it on McDonalds!!!!

thanks for the pics!
the real world pics actually make the car look a little better. or it could just be due to the low lighting.

We made a compilation of all of the videos, the iDrive is in there.... Unlike the current version the knob does not turn, only the black ring does!

Nice to read they chose the ZF because it could handle the extra torque from the Diesel. Good news for the 335i AT mod crowd.

May I add something about "MORE EFFICIENT"? More efficient can be also translated that those engines will rack-up some high mileage-something in the neighborhood of 500K-and still drives like an "ultimate driving machine".
Diesel motors have those characteristics. |

the 335i utilizes the ZF 6HP21TU and from what I gather it is only rated to 332 ft/lbs of torque the 335d is well beyond that, so the 335d will see a Steptronic from ZF in a different variety, like the:ZF 6HP28TU which can handle over 450 ft/lbs. but uses the updated (TU is technically updated) converter and shifting mechanisms for the quicker shifts... They are very similar (same concept) just one is beefier.... just glad they did not go with a GM product!
