Gxx BMWs and iDrive 7 - Known issues with BMW ConnectedDrive app
Hi all,
I just got back from speaking with a BMW Genius at the dealership. I am unable to pair my BMW ConnectedApp with my 2020 G20 3 series. Whenever the app tells me to input the code from the car, there is no code to be found anywhere in the iDrive system. The genius informed me that there is an update in the works that will require coming into the dealer. He was only able to give estimates months in the future ("June or July") when the update will be available. He said it affects "some G series cars with iDrive 7". He also mentioned specifically some X5s are affected by this as well. I've already asked my CA to escalate this to BMW NA and get an answer on when this will be fixed. I will call the Genius hotline soon to confirm what I was told by the dealer. This is pretty frustrating for people who paid for remote start. Last edited by RPM1123; 05-03-2019 at 09:19 AM.. |

Had the same issue: the car never received the code. Turns out the dealer had to activate it on their end first. When they did it, the car just appeared in the app, no code required.
Note: I don't believe it's possible to start the engine from the app. |

All incoreect info. Should be the same as x5. It is a sequence of events that needs to happen
Dealer sends electronic registration to bmw at delivery Car appears on your account with bmw connected services. Email is the primary field Go to bmw connected website and open the account with this email. You should see your car. If not go bavk to dealer and ask them to register When you see you car on line. Download app on iphone. Android does not work Log in to app with your account. You should see your car Go to the car and enable all services. Including data privacy. Re,ote start amd remote 3d is part of it On i drive create your profile with thr same email as connected drive Log in to your profile Sinc it To to apple app Remote start is called. Climatize Click it. Look for red bar to turn green Car starts from app |

Interesting. There's no Start Engine feature in my app. BMW Connected v6.1.0.5272. Android.

There is a good one: You can have a digital key on android and it works but not on apple.
But remote start only works on apple app - not on Android. So you need 2 phones to really impress you date. |

My connected app started working. First BMW, so my first time using the app. The first few days I had the car, it wouldn't find the message it was supposed to send to sync with the car. Car went to the detailer for PPF/ceramic coat and I checked the app and was able to do the remote 3D view, so I think it just needed some time..

Update on this:
I haven't touched the connected drive app for the last 4 days. Today I got an email saying that my car has been connected to my account. I can now use remote start via the app. I have yet to get remote view to work. I am not sure if this was actually BMW's fault or my dealer forgetting to activate something. I'd lean towards #2. |

This app is all kind of magic when activating. I had the same for 4 days. Then when I was complaining it fixed itself.
