Launch Control on a Tune

I added a Mission Performance tune (stage 2.5/3) to my car and could not be happier (after I gapped my spark plugs). Before my tune launch control would hold a little over 3k RPM. After the tune it seems to be the same. Is launch control targeting RPM or a boost level?

I'm going to race my buddy 718 cayman (turbo 4). I don't think I will have a issue beating him but I don't want to use LC and break something.

Launch control is targeting load (or maybe it’s boost) IIRC. No changes are made with LC on MP ECU or TCU tunes.... yet

Unless the Cayman run mid 11’s you should be fine

Also get a vid if you can!

If you have an automatic, you are basically stalling the converter (which is 3k RPM). This is a mechanical governed value, not something modifiable in the tune.

Very especially when they trap 117 in the 1/4 😱 for only 350 hp

I was curious about the load was like on the MP tune, so I started the launch code with my then...JB4 app on. I saw the trans temp jump 20 degrees. I assumed with the added boost, it would add that much more strain to the transmission. Never again.

The video is longer I just did not want to post anything with licence plates shown. At the end he pulled away from me pretty good.

"Launch Control" is just plain brutal for the torque converter/oil. Sure, it's fun, but some of the worst things you can do to the transmission.
