Is this the other 788M wheel?

On the BMW configurator two wheels are shown for the M2C. One has finished or shinny spokes (the face of the spokes). Is this the other wheel, see the picture attached. You cannot tell the difference between the two 788 wheels on the BMW website. they both look the same due to the photography.

Is the wheel in the picture the other optional 788M wheel, thanks.

Thanks for the answer. For some reason the other wheel (shinny spokes) seems much more common in pictures of the M2C on various websites.

I think it's because those are the standard wheels on the launch version (the version on the press cars).

I think BMW should have called this "Gun Metal Finish" which is more appropriate.

The "Black" 788M is in no way at all an actual black wheel.

For my build I went with the "Black" 788M.

Same here, it's the 29U 788M wheel on my options list.

It took me a while to figure out which wheels were bi-color and which were black because the names are not descriptive of the product. Both the "bi-color" and "black" wheels have painted back barrels; the bi-color spokes have a silver front, while the black wheels have a gun-metal front.

They should be called what they are...

'Black with Silver Machined Face' OR 'Black with Tinted Machined Face'.

And while we're at it 'Hockenheim Silver' should be called 'Bipolar Frost'.

Here you are. When I picked up my car it was next to one with the dark wheels.

I like the bi colour on HS as the polished metal keys nicely to the lights and the black keys nicely to the blacked out elements of the car.
I think the dark ones are essential on SO though.

Perfect pictures. BMW should have these on their website, would save people from a boatload of configuration-aggravation!

Thanks for the picture comparison, a subtle change in wheel color makes a big difference, both look great to my eyes.

Thanks. Much like HS, the only way to really judge is to see them in real life. The way light interacts changes how they look. For example the bi colour can look dark because you park near something dark. The dark can look light under strong sunlight with reflections from a lighter surface. The 788 is a beautiful looking wheel, photos don’t ever really do it justice.

The main thing is that they work with light. The old painted “white alloy’ look that BMW used to use on all wheels is not there at all. This was static and what you’d see in photos is what you get.
