What should I do? Lease up in 2 months on my F80
So I have delema. Don't know what to get as a replacement for my 2016 F80. Should I lease a 2018 F80 or Order a 2020 M340i?
I love the aggressiveness, styling, performance and stance of the F80. I drove the M340i yesterday thought it was pretty good, sounds very good too. No M3, but quite fast. Like the new technology and features though. |

I agree, the M340 is more than fast enough for DD,
but nowhere as dramatic (brutal) as an F80 during hard acceleration. If that's your thing, go with another F80 till the G80 is out. I haven't seen too many '18s around, a lot of '19 M4s If I tracked my cars, and did more highway driving, it would be a no brainer for me... mundane city driving, basically anything less then 50mph was fatiguing after a while (on a daily basis), with the M4. I kept it in sport+ a majority of the time... For me this is a nice break, I don't need to feel every bump in the road, and NVH.. also, the crazy part is, with regular DD (not talking about the track!!), which for most people is 90% (maybe slightly more?) of the time.... the power differences between an F80 and G20 is negligible... in those cases I believe a G20 will give an F80 a hard time!! Pssst, don't put that on the "M" forums!

You can always lease another F80 if you like your car a lot, they'll still be available on lots when your lease is up. It honestly depends on what you want, also do you have a DCT or MT in the M3? If you also wait on the G20 then you can also can get one when most of the first year quirks/glitches out of the current generation (idrive 7.0 has been problematic for many owners in comparison to 6.0) and then by the time your lease is up the G80 will be out.
If you like the M340i a lot, and don't mind sacrificing a bit of rawness/performance, go for it, either choice you make you'll likely be happy, just think about what you value the most/want for your next vehicle.

A lot of people are getting good deals on M3s. If you weren't able to get a similar deal then you weren't trying hard enough or were limiting yourself to your location. |

In a similar situation here. My M3 lease is up in September and I'm trying to figure out what's next. Ideally, I would get another M3 if the new one were available.
I'm considering the M340i (need to drive it), leasing a new M4 convertible, finding something on swapalease for a short duration, C63S, 911, X3M. But as others have posted a less harsh car might be nice for a change. Best of luck as you evaluate what to do for your next car. |

Never downgrade unless you absolutely have to, you'll be miserable. Trust me, I know from experience. Either stick with the M3 or find something in that same class.

Look on Swapalease - BMW makes it very simple process.

Just be careful you're not absorbing someone's bad deal... I initially tried that route and most listings had insane monthly payments and/or down payments. Might do better searching the lease takeover section here on bimmerpost (?).
