So, what do you believe, what is recommend on the door (32psi) or what the car computer says (46psi)?

I'm going with 32-34 cold and it typically runs at about 38 when the tires are warmed up. As the weather warms up we will see 40+ PSI. This is why I run Pilot Alpine in the winter. No way would you want 40+ psi in the 20s on a cold day. Would be like hockey pucks on the wheels for you Canadians 😀

So what do you do to set the car computer to the psi you want to run? Hate the tire warning being on all the time?

I am going with what the door says. I reset the Tire Pressure sensor through the I Drive. Had to drive around till it reset. Freaking German over engineering.

Don't forget there are another set of pressures if you'll be going over 100 MPH. Much higher, like 45-46 maybe? Its in the manual.

Agree with the above post. Are the tires set to >100 mph. I just changed to summer tires and put that setting and got the same recommendation. I changed it to below 100 and then got the 30 something recommendation.

It does not make sense >100 mph, the tire could heat up so much it could blow.
Max rating on my michelin is 50 psi, if you put 46 psi, you will hit 50 psi after 5 miles of driving it unless your using nitrogen gas for your tires. With O2 you could see 52/54 psi on a hot summer run at those speeds., now way I would roll with that.

34/35 PSI all around and good to go.

32/33 is what I use.... remember what the actual tire says on the sidewall is the max for the tire not knowing what car its going on. I use the door jam recommendations for speeds under and over 100 but usually under 155 and never fully laden.

How do I do this? Reset via idrive?

I suspect it’s about sidewall integrity at high cornering speeds. Both my M6 and this M5 call for higher pressures for driving over 100 MPH. *shrug*

For the most part, it's low tire pressures that make tires heat up and blow.

Although, as you point out, there is a max pressure that will cause failure. It all depends on tire and driving style.

Do you have any notes as to how high your pressures get when driving?
