Anyone tried dyeing interior leather pieces?

http://forum.e46fanatics.com/showthread.php?t=584524

in my quest for looking up stuff to do for my Z4, i came across this thread on e46 fanatics. I personally would think the saddle color would look quite nice, but am VERY apprehensive about dyeing the panels for fear of messing something up. Has anyone tried to dye anything like this?

maybe i should call up some local interior places and see how much they'd charge.

I'm hoping to find info on this as well. I have an all black interior and with 100 degree days, it's too hot.
Before I found this thread, my options were: replace seats with M seats, or reupholster. If this works I'll do it

Dying seats usually is to repair damage to them, or try to match a replaced panel. Light seats can be died darker with some success. Dark seats, black, cannot be died lighter or any other color for that matter. There used to be spray paint for seats, but you can guess how well and long that lasted.

No idea, would have to ask someone that is really good in the business. BTW, of all places, CarMax uses these folks quite a bit, maybe your local CM could turn you on to a source.

I tried to dye my previous car's interior. Either I didnt do it right, or the product wasnt very good. I took dove gray seats and tried to two tone them with a dark gray. It looked really good, but the dark gray scratched easily showing the light gray under it. the dye didnt sink into the leather, it was more like a new skin.

SEM makes leather coating

SEM makes a color coating made for leather. Auto paint suppliers can mix colors to match. I used it on the seats of my Z4 that were showing wear. They look like new even after a summer of driving. You can use this product to change the color of the leather as well.
