When will M340i reviews be published?
Is there an embargo? After reading this forum, I see that the M340i is already arriving at dealerships.

Do you guys really need validation from the car journalists. If they're arriving at your local dealerships, and you're curious, why not schedule an a appointment to check one out yourself?
I'll save you some time as to what c&d and r&t will say, "it feels big, comfy, and fast, but the numb steering and isolated interior leaves one feeling disconnected from the driving experience." If you like the car, who cares what they think about it. |

Well, I don't need validation, but I'm curious to hear their opinion. At the end of the day its my choice, but I like to read car reviews and I'm interested if they found any improvements in the driving compared to the 330i they drove. Also I'd love to test one, but my dealer or any nearby ones have yet to receive any M340i's, nor do I have the time to go to the dealer, so I'd like to know the opinions of car magazines and even members on the forums here who have driven the car, since I can't make any judgements off the car yet.

1/ it's not because a journalist judges a or b, that it is an objective statement, 2/ I've owned cars low ranked by the international press that I appreciated a lot in daily usage. And also vice versa. Living with it for years is different than testing it for a day or two. You know this when you're married. Problem is that just looking at a car in the dealership is not revealing a lot either and a short drive of a couple of hours only such a bit more. But it's a mandatory discipline before buying. |

I've seen people, and even members here, get disappointed and dismissive of a car just because it was criticized in a review. If you're interested in the model, reserve criticism until you've driven it yourself. Why are we so hesitant to forge our own impressions without validation from some higher authority? It's like we're waiting for permission to like a car. "Ok, c&d or TG, or whoever, wrote a glowing review, and labeled a said model as a "proper driver's car", so now I won't appear foolish if I express interest in it, or praise it, and if I like it, it must mean that I'm a real "car enthusiast". Who cares, just drive what you enjoy, regardless of how c&d rates the steering rack, or center console or whatever. I mean the car journalists heaped a ton of praise on the e90 m3, and while I love the car, I felt that unless you took it to a track, or were willing to press it to dangerous levels (on a public road), it felt big and sluggish during most daily driving scenarios. Oh yeah, it's steering rack also felt a bit vague on center, and didn't offer the most tactile feedback either. Gasp! Say what?! |

Yes, it feels special and gives you some bragging rights, but ultimately it doesn’t fit my life style. Ah! Who am I kidding! Once the M340 lease is up, I’ll more than likely be in an M car, or Porsche! |

C&D? That's the one I care least about. They've literally became trolls. The Nissan Altima headline they put on, was purposefully cynical and misleading. I can't trust anything from them after that...

Car reviews are simply entertaining. I for one am looking forward to the M340i review. After all, it's the first one that has ever existed for BMW.

Are we really expecting some huge difference? It's a 330xi with msport and track pack and a bigger engine.
The writers at car and driver etc probably have a paragraph somewhere about "buttery inline 6s" that they will just copy paste into the 330i review and then hit publish article. There might be a second "cerium gray accents / more aggressive grill design / non round tail pipe finishers" article too if they are really putting the effort in. |

Steering is different, well should be! And handling SHOULD be greatly improved... essentially this should feel more like a BMW ??? That's all I need to hear! Oh, and it better do a hell of a lot better on that skidpad!!!!

The 330i already did pretty well on the skidpad. It posted 0.89 with run flat tires. If you replace the "performance" run-flats with stickier tires it'll probably be closer to 0.95g. That said, can anyone actually feel the difference between a car that measured 0.89, 0.93, and 0.95g on the skid pad? I doubt that I would.

I was being facetious.. but seriously, I do not want to see a review titled “Hyundai Sonata bests M340ix on skid pad test “, if so, let me see it before I commit to 3 years!! |
