B58 Silicone Turbo Inlet w/ oem air box

Hello Everyone,

I'm starting this thread to find out what the interest is here on the forum for a custom single pipe intake tube to turbo inlet that still uses the factory air box. I'm talking with a silicone hose manufacturer now to understand what is involved in making one. This build would require a 3D model, tooling costs and a 25 qty minimum buy. I personally would like to keep the factory air box and filter as it's known to flow very well and have a high filter efficiency. Is there anyone else interested in purchasing a custom silicone pipe that connects the factory air box to the turbo? The goal of this design would be to remove the 4 resonators built into the factory piping. It would turn a two price design into a single price design. This would theoretically flow better and provide more induction/turbo noise. After the hose is made I would use it to do a dyno comparison to see if power was gained or lost and what the sound change is. This is in a very elementary stage and this post is only to gage interest. Attached is the factory hose assembly that this design would replace.

Practically something similar to this? https://www.moddedeuros.com/products...wagen-alltrack

This is used on the MK7 GTI its a inlet hose that connects from the airbox to the turbo inlet.

Yes same concept, the hose on our cars is more complicated tho. So I doubt it could be that cheap. The B58 hose has a turbo connection, pcv connection and I think an evap connection. But Yes it should offer the same benefits as this one.

It can always be done before the turbo inlet pipe so the pcv stays in tact with the oem setup and just make a silicone hose that deletes that silencer

There are resonators on the turbo inlet portion where the pcv connection comes in. You'd have to cut that apart to use that turbo connection. Ideally I wouldn't have to destroy my oem parts.

I’d be interested in even just half of the piece to get rid of the baffle at the top.

I thought about that and cut off the resonators on the pipe coming out of the air box. There are still two more resonators on the turbo inlet pipe I want to remove.

Found this setup on You Tube over a year ago, just VHT primer and wrinkle finish to the pipe to get rid of the aluminum finish. Sounds and looks better then any other intake setup in my opinion.

Thanks, I also noticed that bigboost turbo actually makes this Intake pipe but it’s bundled with their turbo kit. I reached out to them to see if they will sell separately and will post back.

I like the idea. It maintains the OEM cold air induction, OEM MAF, etc. Just cleans up the rest.

I'd be concerned about install though because the 2-piece design likely helps with accessing the bungs on the bottom. Also, I wouldn't be interested if the price is $200+.

That's a good point maybe the upper part of the hose would be silicone and the turbo inlet would be aluminum. I would like the silicone and aluminum ID to match so the transition from piece to piece is seamless. Also agree $200 should be the limit for what this design would offer.

Less. If its just a silicone hose from the stock airbox to the turbo inlet pipe then it should be like $120 max no kidding.

Id be interested.

I might measure up the top half and change it out and see if it opens up the sound any more as it certainly seems the easiest bit to change out, and it would be visually the biggest change.
