Mission Performance Feedback
Just a quick post to report on the MP stage 3 tune (stage 2 ecu & stage 1 trans tune).
2016 MPPSK car running with AP intake and ER catless downpipe. Was previously running JB4 on map 3. 93 octane. 1st impression: car is so much smoother, with quicker/crisper shifts. Power-wise I'd say it felt very similar to map3, with a little less of a torque hit down low, but a more steady and consistent pull all the way to redline. 2nd impression. Champion plugs finally arrived and installed with a .022 gap as instructed by Alex). What can I say, the car is mental now. the shop that did the work could not believe the spark plugs / gapping made such a huge difference. The power delivery feels more urgent, throttle response is better, and it's definitely putting down some extra grunt - breaks loose in 2nd gear (was not the case on multiple runs with stock plugs). It now feels way faster than anything I've experienced with JB4 (even when running map5 and supplementing with E85). Could not be happier with the tune and the overall experience so far and would recommend to anyone who is on the fence. I ran into a few hiccups with the flashing process (running older software) and Alex walked me through all the necessary steps. Also, never had an issue getting a hold of him (like some others on the forum), even when calling 7-8pm EST with questions/clarifications. Btw, I ordered a week prior to the price decrease and still feel it was well worth it. |

Nice! I actually just did a quick reset adaptation on my trans tune since it’s been a while and now shifts are blazingly quick and insane...
Spark plugs were something I also did (a bit late... but nonetheless) and the car felt a lot healthier too. Glad you enjoy it, Alex does good work!

why is just me that feels like i feel like i lost power with the re-gapped plugs? huh. lol
anyways, less violent pulls, but maybe i'm mis-interpreting the newly found smoothness. glad you like the tune! |

Ordered my plugs!
Thanks guys for posting about the plugs. I ordered them from the link above. I reached out to Alex at MP via email last night and boom, an instant reply this morning LOL!!!! Anyway, I have MP stage 2.5 tune with stage 1 trans flash, catfree DP and Dinan intake. Alex related that although I have access to 93 octane fuel he still recommends either replacing or re-gapping the plugs to 0.022 for the best possible performance. From what you guys are saying this small adjustment is excellent so I'm in. On a side note, I brought my car in for service...oil change, standard scope, brake fluid change all under warranty and the dealer who is mod friendly didn't blink an eye... most of the techs cars are seriously modified so there is that LOL. Car has 16000 miles on it and has been tuned for 15000 with no issues so far. I don't drive like a maniac and I certainly hope I don't blow my engine up cause I don't know how friendly my dealer would be if I returned with a serious engine issue. I have been a loyal BMW customer for years so I would hope that would count for something, but who knows. Anyway the car is a beast and the wife is afraid of it so that makes me happy! Thanks again for the cool info!

Brake fluid as standard maintenance
Yes, on both my wife's 2016 X3 and My 2017 340 2 different BMW dealers have changed the brake fluid at over 15000 miles. This was included as a no charge routine maintenance during oil and micro cabin air filter change. My 2016 X-3 got free wiper blades every year too. The 2017 doesn't get the wiper blades included and I think they are phasing out the entire 2-3 year free maintenance plan too. Pay more get less...It's the new in thing

My Dealer notified me in February I was due for a brake fluid change also, covered under warranty. Car has only 6,000 miles on it?

How much does gapping your plugs affect your mpg? Not that I care because power and delivery come first, but just wondering what the real drop in mpg is.
