Navigation in Europe
I was wondering if anybody elses "Traffic Info" is working over here in Germany. Mine keeps telling me no reception. There are no channels nor is there an auto feature shown in the menu, no matter where I drive.

You have a USA built M3 right, but based in Germany?
This is a interesting one .... it might be that this particular feature won't work unless you are in the USA, as your "USA coded radio" (not sure if this is different software, and/or hardware) will be looking for a signal using the clear channel format (the system BMW uses in the USA for Real Time Traffic Information), whereas in Europe they use a different system. Just a educated guess ... You might want to raise this with your dealer, and ask them to contact a Tech at BMW. Only they would know for sure .... Good luck, and let us know ! |

Wasn't going to chime in because I've only experienced this on a 335i and I'm not sure about software differences. Either way, I had no problems receiving traffic info on my US Spec 335i in Germany...

My buddy has a 328 and he receives the signal as well. I guess I will call the dealer in the morning. I spoke to some lady down there today and she said they were working on it in Munic. I dont know just sounds strange to me with the other 3er's working.

Well I found out from two sources now that the Traffic Info is not working on the M3's here in Germany. Supposedly they are working on this in Munic. They said it will require a service trip to get it fixed when the fix comes out.

bump on this thread...smokey joe or any other members, do you know if this has been resolved? My 09 with gen 2 idrive won't receive RTTI updates either. I asked my CA and she said that it is not possible, but I don't believe her. My 335i had it no problem back in 07.

yeah, i have hit two staus on A6 and that prompted me to call munich yesterday. they told me that it is possible for our M3s to get traffic info, and they are unsure why we aren't. like you mentioned, they said that BMW AG is aware of the problem but they are trying to work out a software fix. hopefully something will come out soon. i guess that other 09 platforms are experiencing the same thing. very hit or miss with which vehicles get it and which don't.

A friend just picked up a US 2008 135i thru ED in Munich and I asked him about RTTI over there and he told me that he did receive the German traffic alerts. His 135i is a 07/08 production...
I will not be surprised if this issue discussed here is due to simply software, unless there has been a change in US Professional radio units. |

My wife and I did Euro delivery last July and the Euro traffic was not working when we were there. On our first day out from Welt to Austria, we hit an accident on the Autobahn and it didn't show up in our I-Drive GPS. We were stuck in traffic for almost an hour. But is is sure working here in OH.
