Enjoying your new X7?

I was curious if other X7 owners are as pleased with their purchase as we are (so far). My wife and I were out to dinner this evening and while leaving the restaurant a guy walking in looked over and yelled "I like your car". He was eyeing it up and down. It is a great looking SAV IMO of course but others are taking notice as well. What's your experience been so far?

Absolutely. The ride quality is amazing. Coming from a e class merc that was already very comfortable, this thing just floats over the terrible New England pavement. Looks are more distinct that the range rovers that are everywhere here. Now that I’ve adjusted to the weight of the steering - it’s still feels precise, albeit lighter than the old hydraulic racks of yore.

We are super happy with our x7 and while compliments are nice, I don't care if others like it or not.

The air suspension is magic, it handles well for a large vehicle yet rides very smoothly.

The car has exceeded my expectations on every front. The tech, driving dynamics, comfort, and wow factor are next level.

Just had a clear bra and full ceramic coat placed on this bad boy.

Man, good to hear all the good reports. We have a smaller population size than the G05, but still, it seems like the G05 has had MANY more complaints from owners at first release, then the G07. Hope it stays that way!

LittleJoe looking great! I love your interior match.

I can attest to all the comments above except for the iDrive 7 connectivity to my iPhone XS Max. Took to dealership and I’m still having trouble with it consistently connecting to CarPlay and or Bluetooth in general. Yesterday my $3700 Bowers and Wilkins system decided to give me music from my past—it sounded like a 1 speaker transistor radio. Required me to shut the car down and then power back up. If I could get by these electronic glitches this car is perfect.

Also been having some issue with my wife's iPhone X and my XS Max. More issues on the X than XS Max. Updating to iOS 12.2 did help somewhat.

Had similar issues (including that odd sound filtering on the BW sound system). I updated all the BMW system apps and then did a reset of the iDrive by holding the volume power button down for 20 seconds.

Combined with the 12.2 iOS update on my iPhone X, I haven't had any CarPlay/Bluetooth issues since.

How did you update the BMW systems apps. Did you update iDrive?

I believe the updates can be done OTA, at least in the USA. Not sure about Canada.

So far I haven't been able to download any OTA (Over The Air) updates. My BMW Genius said they haven't yet started pushing OTA updates.

How did you update the BMW systems apps. Did you update iDrive?
This is not to be confused with OTA updates for the larger iDrive system. To update the BMW apps, first select the apps icon from the iDrive home screen. Once in the apps screen, push option on your iDrive controller and you'll see a pop up that has "update apps". The update should happen fairly quickly and then you can try restarting the iDrive system with the 20 second hold using the volume power button.

Discovered a cool feature while using Siri to call up an address of a contact in my phone via CarPlay to navigate to his house. BMW inserted an option to port the destination over to their in-car navigation system so you can take advantage of the directions appearing in the Head Up display. Very cool.

Just picked up ourX740i yesterday and so far so good. We are coming from a 2015 Escalade and this car definitely feels more refined luxurious. Waiting until after, 1,200 mi break-in period to really push it but the 40i seems powerful enough. I really like the wireless CarPlay, it is nice to enjoy CarPlay without having to take the phone out of your pocket. The LED sunroof is really cool and the captain chairs are very comfortable. I will be going on a 4 hr driving trip Easter weekend and I will test out the autonomous driving features then. Compared to my Audi I find the I Drive not as intuitive as Audi's virtual cockpit. I will definitely have to study the owners manuel on this one. I also wish the gauge cluster display had more configurations.

Overall we really love this SUV

I was just at a grocery store when four guys walked around the back of the X7 staring it down, then walked around the side staring it down, and finally walked around to the front to get a better look when they realized I was sitting in it. They began to smile and gave me a thumbs up. I rolled down my window and they said "great looking car man". Six years ago our first GL 550 drew this kind of attention. It's cool when others appreciate your vehicle and let you know.
