Anybody use Voice Command?

Read through the manual, not much info. How do you use it, and how good is it?

Most features can be controlled via Voice. In the back of the user guide, is a section called "Short commands for the voice command system"

Sections on:

Assistance Window
Communication
Navigation
Onboard info
Entertainment
Climate
and i Menu

You also might find these handy little cards useful. Not bad for $5,95

Played with it a bit right when I got the car, got turned off but just in the last few days began using it. I use it most often for things that take tons of iDrive clicking and/or turning. A couple of my favorites are related to the weakest part of iDrive: Nav.

"Route list"
"Stop guidance"

Ok, let just take stop guidance for example.

In order to stop guidance takes about 3 clicks. If left screen map is displayed. Click over to left hand column. Move down one item and select. Route guidance is now stopped.

Is it that bad ?

Now I'm not getting at you swamp ... but I have to tell you, that folks that complain about the i-drive user interface (namely journalists) are clearly people that have not had a opportunity to use the system on a regular basis.

The only area that I see is a shortcoming, is to search across all categories in the POI database. I got tired of that, so just ordered the concierge service and get them to do it instead ;-)

Yes it is that bad (Nav).

As you pointed out POI and all those categories is perhaps the worst part of NAV.

I grew up with computers, make them (loosely) my profession and am not old nor a luddite. I still strongly dislike most of the iDrive interface.

By the way, from the Entertainment section stopping guidance (which should be done automatically when you arrive) takes 5 clicks. I do prefer one with the voice command.

I've read through the whole manual on this and I cannot find it. Can anyone tell me how to get to the secret menu that will unlock these commands?

o Eject passenger seat
o Clear traffic
o Clear cops
o Mute wife

Anybody use Voice Command

Can anyone tell me of a way to get MS voice command v1.5 to work on the JasJar. I can install it but it does not work right. You can play the media player.

It is by far the best thing to use in the iDrive system......

Try talking dirty to it.
