Cal Speedway Driving School - Sept 27

Anyone going? I haven't seen a for-sure representation of the track layout but I think it's going to be the one below. Has anyone driven it before, how is it?

The price for this weekend is $600 with the 2 day discount, Buttonwillow was only $430 for both days, and I think that track looked like much more fun. I was curious if anyone had any input/comments on this track. I will most likely be going for sure if anyone else is, let me know! I'll be trying my on-the-cheap track setup ( staggered 18's with BFG R1's off craigslist, $900 total )

yes - but you have the wrong layout shown - they will use the ROval.

Is the ROval this one? that will be sweet if it is... I wonder how fast can get it on that big curve... nice.

yes - thats it. its awesome. the facilities are impresive too. there are many covered pit garages avail for free. its a very unique experience to drive on the banked oval. in my e46 M3 a coult hit about 140 mph on the front straight. but they put in a chicane out of cones so you dont go into turn one on the banking at over 140. slows you down to about 80 and then you can hit 130+ again before coming back on to the infeild.

Very nice facilities, and I agree that driving on the banking is neat to try. Some will say that the infield part isn't as interesting as other tracks in that it is flat and isn't as "technical" in complexity compared with other tracks. Also requires solid brakes.

This event was awesome! If anyone is contemplating going, you should. It was my first time and I had a blast... I definitely feel like a better driver. Not to mention, top speed on the straight was approaching 140 for myself, and that was in the D group.

It was amazing to see what these cars can do... I was taken on "a nice drive" Saturday morning that was truly impressive. If anyone is wondering, sayemthree definitely knows how to get around that track.

Here are some pix!

Awesome guys. I would love to run the Roval!

I saw a vid once of a P-car that spun in the high speed section. Being as your windows have to be down, once he got past sideways, the internal pressure in the car was so great that his windshield blew out, from the inside out. He must of been carrying some serious speed! woo hoo. Luckily, I don't think he hit anything and just had to replace the windshield.

Moral...don't spin on the Roval!

Have fun...wish I could go....

Wow! So he popped out his windshield from the internal force/pressure. Crazy.....
