your critique reminds me of an article in autobild a few weeks ago. the author was criticising that bmw was overhasty with the e90 facelift but in my opinion is this nonsense the e46 was released in germany in 1998 and got its facelift in 2001... the e90 2005 and fl in 2008, where is the difference? i think its just the regular product cycle

I know you can not see it, but doesn't this also have the new idrive?

I wish that the tails would have more of a clear portion to them, and blink red similar to the facelifted E60 tails. The tails on the facelifted E90 have too much red in them.

The M3s are sitting at dealer lots as we speak. This is going to make it even harder to sell.

1) New trunk lid
2) New rear lights
3) New Idrive

Its always been known the facelift for the E90 will be just a couple months after the E90M3 and that it would include the E90 M3
The facelift date has been publicly known since 2005 and posted on this board many times

I think most were under the impression that the e90 m3 WAS the facelift model, atleast i was. I would be pissed if I bought the m3 sedan and 2 months later this comes out. Albeit, not as pissed as a 330 owner

ok you are right. i thought we talk about the facelift in general. indeed the prefacelift m3 owners got pwned by bmw, but the date of the facelift release is fixed and official like 2years? i had never bought the prefacelift m3 because everybody knew that it would be displaced soon

I'm with E90Fleet on this.

Everyone knew that the E90/E91 facelift was coming this year. In addition, applying simple logic, it followed that the E90 M3 would get the change also. No one, or at least no one who reads the boards or any BMW blog or pays even slight attention to BMW model releases, would have thought that the '08 M3 was already the facelift model.

Also, most of the people on M3Post do not care about the new tail lights. Its an M3 people - you buy it for the chassis and the drivetrain. If you care enough about the color of the tail lights on your M3 to let it get you upset, then it would seem you bought the wrong car for the wrong reasons.

I was under the impression it was the facelift considering it got a new (facelifted) e92 front end. My apologies

It got neither a facelifted nor an e92 front end.

It got the all-new M3 family (E90/E902/E93) front end which happened to share the headlights of the E92/E93 3 series but which was otherwise unique to the M3.

My apologies
No need. My point is that no one should shed a tear for the 2008 E90 M3 owners because the vast majority knew exactly what was going to happen. And if they didn't then, wow, how do you spend $70k on a car without reading all the publicly known info about future models?
