Music Issue
I load music into iDrive via a USB drive. When I deleted those files and added new ones to upload it shows duplicates of everything and the old ones on the flash drive. I even formatted my flash drive and iDrive still thinks it has data (and plays it bizarrely) despite there being nothing on the drive. Has anyone else seen this? Also, how do you format the music stored on iDrive? Admittedly I haven't looked but I figure this might solve my issue

I noticed that also. I don't use the USB to play but rather to import music. Each time I plug the USB in to import a new folder, it shows all of the folders that have been on the USB in the past.
I always erase/reformat the USB before putting the folder(s) on it that I'm going to import so it must be a case that the iDrive system remembers the folders that were on the USB previously. |

In iDrive 6 it was something like this:
Music Collection > Options > Manage Music Collection There should be a number of links, including "Delete Selected Titles", and "Delete All Titles". |

Here is a similar thread on the same topic (no good solution though) - https://g05.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1572780

FYI a long format is exactly what it sounds like and does take a while so be forewarned. My 128gb one took well over 30min and is independent of my PC (9900K @ 5.2-5.3Ghz, 2080Ti @ 2130mhz, 32GB DDR4 C14 3200Mhz) none of that is relevant to formatting a flash drive boring day at work

AndroidRobot, so that I follow,
a) Are you saying you have to long format your drive anytime you add songs? b) Did you figure out if the iDrive has an internal cache? |

As a non techy let me understand . If I want to add music to my music collection using a flash drive I need to do what? Can I use a clean formatted flash drive with only the new music and add it to my existing collection?

This is what I do. I have a spare SD stick just for this purpose. I clean/format it every time I am done. |

Thanks. Plan to go shopping on Amazon soon. Have not been able to add playlists from my iTunes collection.

I have tried long formatting drive but car still sees old tracks which suggests there might be a cache. I tried secure 7 pass wipe but car still sees tracks. I did both and it seemed to work. I am about to try that again.

Have you had a chance to look into this? Those of us who playback directly from a USB drive (don't use the internal iDrive storage) have the same/similar "caching"/duplicate songs issues. Extremely annoying, especially since iDrive has seen at least one "major" update since these issues first surfaced. |
