LCI tail light fitment issue

didn't have much luck on f80post so im posting here. i installed lci tail lights on my f80 and the inner tail just don't seem to be fitting flush with the outer tails. they seemed to be pushed out a little too far. it seems like its due to the weather strip. just wondering if anyone else had this issue.

all my clips seem to be in the right spots. I thought i was just being ocd but i drove by the bmw dealer to see an actual lci car and the fitment was definitely better.

any ideas on how to fix it ?

Not sure about f80 and f30 but f82 and f32 they have different inner light.
Small plastic guide leg on light unit not on same position so the fix for f82/32 is cutting that leg out and it will be fit perfectly.

It is not necessarily the inner light.

Difficult to see but looks like your outer light is also pushed in too much.

they seem to be lining up ok. and the outer ones don't really have any adjustment mechanism to them. I suppose I could throw a washer between the tail lamp and chassis to even things out...

edit: I do see what you're saying now looking at the pic, at the bottom portion of the out tail light.. i'll take another look when I get home.

its definitely the inner tail lights that are pushing out too much, along the outer edge of the trunk lid. the inner part of the inner tail light looks fine since the screw helps push that part down as you tighten it.

When you install the inner taillights, you need to ensure that the outermost part of the taillight is clipped into the slot in the trunk before seating the inside corner of the taillight.

If it doesn't clip in easily, the metal may be deformed, and need to be straightened out. My car had this issue after some bodywork because of a hailstorm. I had to straighten the sheetmetal with a screwdriver before the light would clip into place properly.

Had/have the same issue. It definitely is the inner part thats not mounted correctly, so dont modify the outer part.
I disassembled it three times and put a lot of torque on the screws to keep the gap minimal. After some time i randomly read on a german forum that you have to perform a small uncritical modification to avoid this gap. I cant find the post, but I remember that it had something to do with silicon foam or aomething like that. After 6months my lights got loose (due to the foam beeing pressurized?) so that i re-screwed them and now they are flat. With loose i mean that it was very minor and i only recognized it during a handwash. I didnt disassemble the lights, but this would confirm that its not a big deal. I am very critical on gaps and fitment so I understand your concern.
I would recommend to fit em tight and re check after a short period of time. Just dont apply too much force or you are going to break em.

This. I installed them on my F30 335 and that God damn leg guide was preventing the lights from sitting flush. I used a Dremel and shaved them down flat and they slid right in.
