Home made spindle spreader tool
I thought I'd show how I made a spindle spreader for strut removal.
They were unavailable at my local Napa and other stores , $50 online and then have to wait for delivery. So I got a 12 mm Allen socket, did some grinder work to it, and replicated what I saw in pics online It worked wonders! It went right in and w a 90 degree turn of the ratchet she was spread and stayed in.place until reassembly. Having trouble loading a pic currently, too large a file. I'll try to use laptop and post it in the replies |

so a 3/8" driver is about 9.5 mm. Haven't ever done a suspension on a F3x yet, but seems about the right size. FWIW a 1/4" driver usually works on vw's. I have the proper vw tools, and know a lot of people that have used the driver successfully.
Glad it worked for you! Was just wondering if there was an easier way. |

I think I used the VW tool with my install and it was just a tiny bit too small. It worked with some wrestling but if you have one that's like 2mm wider, it would make life a ton easier on the removal.

They are cheap, you can buy any spindle tool as they are the same. I paid £6 including delivery which is probably like $10... |

I have been unable to get a pic on here
Sorry But yeah 50 is what I saw them online, maybe cheaper if I had shopped more, but I was in a bind and Napa didn't carry it. So no I had to let my mind wander and make it happen w what Napa did have. It worked amazing for me |
