911 calls
Several times, I've tried to call 911 to report a dangerous situation. Instead of just letting me use voice control to say "dial 911," the car wants me to push the SOS button, which sends me to a BMW call center. Is there a work-around?
(No, I don't call 911 unless it's a real emergency, like a serious accident that just occurred, road ragers deliberately trying to run somebody off the road, etc.) |

I don't exactly understand floridaorange's comment. If the s*** is hitting the fan in front of me, I don't want to take my hands off the wheel to find and dial my phone. That's what happened recently when I saw a lunatic repeatedly trying to run another car off the road on the freeway. It continued for more than five miles, so it was obviously intentional. CHP finally showed up and arrested him at gunpoint after a brief pursuit. |

You could probably set one of the programmable buttons on the dash to call 911 through your cell. I hadn't thought of that until just now so I may just do that myself. It would be nice to have a one press solution in an emergency instead of fumbling around.

I call while driving - I don't recommend it for everyone but in generally very calm in shit hitting fan scenarios. Having said that I'm sorry if my comment seemed flippant.
