Cool Recent BMW ad for X4M state track ready, really?

Sigh....so why do BMW ads state things like 'track ready cooling system' on a SUV

Are people really taking this to the track?

Seems like another example of M badging being misappropriated for the actual intended use i.e. true M cars......uhg

Cheers,
Merlin

IMO, its more of a cross over than a true SUV, but yeah!

It would be wonderful if BMW offered a HPDE or DE event (at Thermal or a local track if not in CA) included with all their cars. That would educate and familiarize more drivers with their car/suv at the limit.

Good thing there is so much High-gloss black otherwise there wouldn't be any product highlights...

More stupidity from bmw M.

I guess it's easy to make M models now that the engine is the same as the base model- just tune it and slap a badge on!

The Nurburgring lap time of the '15 X6M is the same as the E92 M3.

Why even bother with an M4 anymore, at this rate? The lines are so blurry at this point...

What we're all thinking:

What used to make M special was the upgrades on everything; engine, drivetrain, suspension, exhaust, wheels, almost every body panel, etc. Now we're looking at a M that the highlighted upgrades are:

Trim
Trim
Trim
Bumper
Bracing Package (I have no idea what this means)
Color

On a positive note, this should be really easy to upgrade / rebadge for your standard X4.

Doubtful anyone is going to the track although apparently you could with X4M. Overall though nothing wrong with a top performing version of every car in the lineup. If you don't like it, don't buy it.

So you look at one of the ads and ignore the others?

Although the S58 may be a derivative of the B58 it is not the same engine. Nor are the transmission, exhaust, wheels, seats, steering wheel, quarter panels, bumpers, mirrors etc. etc. the same.

Not to mention the price jump from a loaded M40i is not that much compared to say a loaded M340i and a loaded M3 so you get a lot more for your money.

The S55's cooling system in the F80/82 is sufficient for 118 degree temps at Thermal. I would assume the S58 has an equally-impressive cooling system.

Bmw can't be blamed for making these- there's clearly demand for them. Jaguar chose F-pace for its svr treatment, over their sedans or wagons. I'd much rather see m3 wagon or any performance wagon from bmw but people won't buy them at least not in this country.
