The Sound Never stops! backup cam with sideplate

As i live in VA and front plates are required, I opted to not drill holes in the front bumper and went with a side-plate (spare me your cynicism about a side plate being ugly or whatever).

A huge problem though is dealing with the intermittent beeping on my backup cam. The plate confuses the front censors and leaves a perpetual "beeep" as I back up.

Any solutions? Is there any possible beemercode coding to remove one front sensor "cell?"

I lowered the PDC sound as much as possible but it still makes my ears bleed.

I think there is a way to code it out in Bimmercode Expert mode, but I don't think anyone's done it for a DIY walkthrough. I'll take a look at it if I have some time. Many people got side plates so you shouldn't be the only one having this problem.

You can also purchase a new and better looking (IMHO) plate mount for your car that shouldn't cause any problems.

That must suck, the PDC can be so annoying at times. I think that there’s a way to code them out via Bimmercode expert mode, but you might also consider just unplugging the sensors and coding out any error messages.

Did you buy the front plate bracket designed for cars with PDC?
They incorporate different holes and a different design. These are made specifically for the F30.
If you didn't buy the PDC specific front plate bracket, you bought the wrong kind

I couldn't imagine that existing mlev. The side plate is a tow-hook attachment. The sensor is right next to it.

A quick search on this forum says otherwise

Visually my favorite is the STO N SHO, which I bought but never installed:

Kies Motorsports posted a youtube video reviewing a tow hook plate holder specifically designed to not interfere with PDC. You might want to check it out:

How does that side mounted plate look better, looks like a pimple on the car and would much rather have a centrally mounted plate.

This is the to that other thread about tow hook plate holder.... it won't clear the PDC on my 428i gc. I got a central plate mount

I use this drilled on the underside of the bumper:

I epoxied three heavy neodymium magnets inside the front bumper shell. On the back of my plate, I bolted on one of those rubberized magnetic strips that they sell to car dealers.

To remove the plate, I just grab and pull. To put it back on, I just hold it to the bumper and the magnets snap it in place. I've driven several thousand freeway miles with it in place and it hasn't fallen off yet.

I got a US Mill Works one and they said it only works one way with a certain version they sell. I wanted to move it a little without triggering the sensor. I glued pieces of felt to the areas triggering the sensors and it works 95% of the time. And when it rains it gets wet it stops working as well.
