Mixed Tyres
Hi All
Just got the wifes G30 540i thru Auc and realised now that i have got it that the rear tyres has one pirelli and one michellin - both have loads of tread but wondering whether its acceptable for auc to sell a car with different brand tyres on the same axle? And before someone says it, yes i know should have checked this, but was busy checking the alloys and tread and didnt look at brands of tyres!!!!!!! |

On a 120d i’d possibly leave it, but on a 540i I’d definitely be questioning it, while pushing on you’d want the rear tyres behaving in the same way & I don’t think having 2 different brands will give you that.

Think I'd be calling the dealer in the morning & asking the same question & politely requesting they swap 1 tyre out so you have a matching pair.
If not be happy with mixed brand tyres on the same axle. Pity you didn't notice before taking delivery as would have been easier to sort. |

Times are obviously hard for some dealers.
If it was me, I'd be having words. No way would I accept mixed tyres on a BMW AUC car. Any excuses or nonsense and I'd be quoting their own blurb... Quote:
If I saw mixed tyres on a AUC car, I'd be thinking what else is suspect. |

Does AUC car shopping in U.K. come with a warranty? Curious about AUC differences in U.K. and CPO (certified pre owned) in the US.
CPO vehicle in the US would not normally arrive with different brand tires. |

Yes, any used approved used BMW comes with a warranty, under 3 years old would still be under manufacturer warranty, over 3 years old would be AUC warranty.

All user manuals that I have looked at (back to 2003) contain a similar statement. Includes the "for good handling and vehicle response, only use same tread, single manufacturer", type statement. |

I would speak to the supplying dealer. If the tyres are new have them swap the non matcher out for a matching one if they are part worn I would demand a pair of matching across the axle. You said it's 350 miles away ok well speak to your local dealer get their advise and a cost for rectification let the selling dealer know and have them either pay you the cost for rectification or have your local dealer invoice them. I would also raise this with BMW customer services as they might put pressure on the dealer and things might happen quicker.
