BMW CCA Concours d' Elegance - Renton, WA - 07/27/2008

I entered for judging in this year's BMW Concours in Renton, WA. Honestly I had never heard of Concours and what it was all about, but fortunately at the last minute, I found out it was based solely on cleanliness over originality. Spent a good 7+ hours preparing yesterday!

The weather was iffy off the bat which I think contributed to the relatively low turnout, but by early afternoon, the sun finally came out (good ole Seattle). I'm not sure exactly how many cars showed, but I'd say a good 100 or so.

Beautiful cars in every class! It was so awesome seeing some very well taken care of BMW's all in one place.

I placed 1st in my class, which I believe was combined E46 and E90 series. It was such an honor getting an award for my first real competition!

Congrats, I would have been last of the last... About a year of ownership/ driving, the car as tons of mini rock chips...

wow..i though i would never see the rallye e30 m3 again. My Uncle raced for that ream, you can still see his name on the car. Joao Manuel Martins, its spelled J M Martins. It was the race car that represented PORTUGAL.

I am really impressed.

The judging was pretty extreme. They actually returned a second time later in the day to re-judge my car (I think for Best In Show), and they were doing things like wetting their fingers and running it over surfaces in the engine compartment. There is also a silver reflective sticker in the upper right corner that was peeling up a bit, and they docked me for that!

All in all, it was a fun learning experience. The dude who won Best In Show had a super clean E30 M3, I believe.
